Stop hating on V6.

Why not wait and use that money you were saving for the supercharger to just get the V8 to begin with? I can't see where it financially makes sense to buy a V6 and then try to make it as fast as the V8. Ford really can do the upgrade cheaper than the aftermarket.

I agree. Here, people buy 1.3 litre cars (always small), put 18" wheels on them, stupid exhausts that actually lower power output (but sound louder), drop them and put Altezza lights on them. I spoke to one of these guys and asked him how much he has spent on his car on mods, he came back with $7000. The only response I had was "Why didn't you buy a decent car in the first place??". Also, when they mod them, they never tell their insurance, therefore invalidating it!!
To see some small European cars that have been riced silly, visit Barry Boys
The sites first line is
This site is dedicated to all those Barry boys who think that superglue and some over-sized airfix kit turns an Escort 1.3 into a Performance Car. If you're brave enough to put pictures of your car on the internet, then you're brave enough to stand up here and be counted.
We'll find you....You're all morons !!
PLEASE DO NOT VISIT IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED. CONTAINS SWEARS

I would take a gt over a v6 any day of the week. Thats my personal preference. I am totally a v8 person though. To me buying a sports/performance car is just that. You want performance and the 210 hp v6 just doesnt cut it for me. If you love the style of the v6 and thats what you want then buy you one who cares?

Your about the 4.0 V6 I dove a Explorer with with that V6 in it last week off the dealer lot to see how good that V6 was, it is great motor it move out 4,500 pound
turck at stop light and burn rubber and it can move 3,200 Mustang twice has fast.
.
with the same hp has 86 GT watch out it could be a sleeper at racetracks. :nono:

I don't hate V6s per se, but the dray, agrarian lump under the current Stang has got to be one of the most somnolent of the type. Granted it has served yoeman's duty in keeping the Stang name alive and providing a ride for legions of teenagers, secretaries and rental car agencies, but it does little to induce lust and wanting.
The 4.0 SOHC in the upcoming '05 should be significantly better but I'm hoping for a version of the upcoming Cyclone 3.5 to put some real ardor under the six-bangers hood.

To me the V6es saturate the market and will ultimately detract from the beauty of the new Mustang. It is great that everyone can drive a stang V6 under 20k, but after about a year and one on every corner the looks will fade quite a bit. I would prefer the GT and the V6 models have less in common. Nothing wrong with the engine, but as a future GT owner it will be a bit annoying seeing the same overall style and colors available for 8k less.
Different rims, different grille, twin exhausts, better exhaust note. There are a lot of differences between the V6's and the V8's. The differences between the two have always been discreet. Tell me, I bet you can instantly tell the difference between a stock V6 SN-95 and V8 SN-95 instantly??
Like I say, I have a V6, it has been chipped and puts out around 215bhp, plenty of power in these parts! also, the economy starts to make a huge difference when you do 70 miles a day and gas costs $1.30 / litre!

About V6 abuse.. I see some on other sites.. but haven't seen it here. Just some rice stangs... which always seem to be V6's.
I guess they need all that insurance money they saved and put that towards a new Maxwell House fart tip.Plenty of positive V6 stuff on this site.. V6 Power and at 3.8mustang (even though some of the advice they give isn't all that great.. read with caution. bawhaha)[/b][/quote]
To change the topic.....
Actually Amy, that was one of the jokes they used in the "simma down now" SNL skit. ..................."Maxwell house fart tip" Hoooooooo you kill me!
The people that use those are 'Chock full-o-nuts'.
Back to topic.
The real problem is not the V6 "bashing". The real problem is the use of the word hate.
Here's mom to tell you all about it:
Son, we don't hate things, we "dislike" them.

Another reason not to hate: If it wasn't for the V6 cars, I'm not sure the Mustang would still be around. I'm sure the V6 outsells the V8 by a good margin, and without those numbers...

the cologne v6 will do just fine in the 05. the 200+ plus hp is nothing to write home about but it's the 240 blft of torque that you should take notice of...whether at a road course or a stop light, it's torque that wins the battle, not hp. the only real drawback to the v6 stang is the final drive ratio and the lack of a rear sway bar. oh, and another thing: 2.15$ a gallon...for regular....goodbye gt...hello mr. v6!! jackg 90seville 95k
I have owned both and can tell you that I NEVER had a clean driving record when owning a GT. The past 3 Mustangs I have had have all been V6's and my 05 will be also. Insurance is cheaper, Property Taxes are cheaper & Gas is Cheaper and my driving record is completely clean. Just my 2 cents worth. Never really noticed any V6 bashing here though.

Just begs the question......When is the 2005 portion of this going to be broken into a V8 and V6 section like the 94-04 section??
Forgot one thing, I (my opinion) think the 05 and up will take alot less effort to fix up and look stout then the older models. Except for the size of the tires it's pretty sweet right off the assembly line.

V6 mustangs are a lot more powerful than a lot of comparable cars on the road now. They are more powerful than the V6 accords and civics,

worrying about gas prices is silly. I wouldnt give up a GT for 3 bucks a tank.
For the record, I think the '05 V6 is going to be a helluva car. I've been saying Ford should put that engine in the Mustang since the first time I drove an Explorer with it.
Don't get me wrong. I'm still getting the GT. I've got one now and like the power. But for those who have never driven a vehicle with this V6 in it, I think you'll be very surprised.
My $0.02.
