Sometimes we forget what a great car the GT is!

It can still deliver a smackdown with 120lbs of Quickcrete in the trunk from the The Home Depot. So I guess you can say it hauls on many levels.
Kinda reminds of that Magnum commercial...
"What do you got in that thing?"
"Oh, Two bags of Quickcrete, an extra value meal, and a V8".

Definitely! I have friends/coworkers driving the beamers, the acuras, saabs, etc., and they just don't know what they're missing. They make their claims about luxury and all that, but I know that I'm having more fun every time I get behind the wheel and start up that v-8 (actually it's fun just lookin' at 'er)! ...oh, and I paid less too. ;-)

My 2007 Mustang GT= Boredom Zero! (Remember those ads?)
It's just an exprience every time you drive one. Heads turn, ricers quake, thumbs go up, fellow stangers wave, and I just smile that big ol' smile and wave back. The other day I was getting in the car after coming out of a store, and this teenage kid stops in front of my car, kneels down and "bows" a few times, then goes on his way. I just laughed, started the car and gave him a couple high RPM rumbles and took off.

Couldn't agree with you more. My '95 GT Vert is still an Awesome Car, and I couldnt be happier with it. But that wont stop me from upgrading to an '08 GT soon. Then I will be lucky enough to have a 5.0 Vert and a New Coupe.
Not saying I wouldnt want a Cobra, have been waiting for one since 04, but too much hype and with our GT500's going for $25K above sticker, I will stick with a GT and have some fun with it.

When I read the part in your post about the GT-500 going for $25K ober sticker reminds me of something that happened last weekend.
I took my car in for service and while waiting I went into the showroom and looked at a new GT-500 w/ a MSRP of $42K and an ADM of $40K so basically they wanted $82K for the car.
After looking at the car I headed back to the service waiting area and bumped into a salesman that I've known for several years, and he asked if I was ready for a new car and I said 'no I'm keeping the one I have now' and asked him about the ADM on the GT-500 and if people were paying that amount and he said they negotiate on that, and he also said 'if you want the car we'll give it to you for $60K'.
I have to admit the GT-500 is a nice car, but IMHO it's not worth what they want for the car.

I also have a 2005 GT and still love the car after 2.5 years and 24,000 miles. I have read about all the other models Ford is offering and even looked at a few of them. The cars are nice, but I don't have any intention of trading mine in for a new one anytime soon.

Looks like you've caught up to me on mileage. I'm right at around 24K myself, but with my Whipple, I'm having more fun than ever! That's the thing about modding! It wards off the "boredom" factor. Every time you change something, it's like a new ride all over again!
And I agree, the GT500 is not worth the ADM.
p.s. Did you see my post about my new Razors? Any Stang hangouts this weekend?

Back on topic, I love the S197 GT. It's the best combination of looks, performance, and fun of any vehicle I've owned. My wife and kids love it too. To me it's the perfect daily driver.
When I had my '98 Mustang, I liked it's looks but when I'd look at it I'd think, "...it would look so much better if the front wheels were pushed out toward the front for less front overhang, and the rear license plate was mounted in the rear bumper and it had the gas cap between the tailights. I wish the interior had some chrome in it! And if only it looked a little more like the classics." Then with the S197 they did all that!

So, I havn't seen your post on the wheels yet...I'll have to check it out.
There are a couple of events that I know about this weekend-
One is in Montrose on Saturday Morning (cars are something like you see at Bob's), and on Sunday they have a meet in Calabasis followed by a cruise to Malibu for lunch. If you're interested give me a call or PM me for details.

Absolutely, the Mustang GT is one of, if not the best deals in the car world. Great looks, good factory sound (exhaust and stereo), and 300 hp, all for less than $25k.
