Sometimes we forget what a great car the GT is!

I have a 05 GT and I love it! But with all the hype surrounding the Shelby's (GT500, SGT, KR, Super Snake) and the anticipation of the Bullitt and the Boss, I think the GT gets lost in all the hype.

Searching through Youtube I came across plenty of Mustang GT vids. Watching them makes you fall in love with the car all over again!
It's just a sweet ride!!!
My lease is up next year and I thought I would get a Bullitt. But I'm having second thoughts. The GT is great! I love the look, the ride, the handling, and for very little money I can boost the HP beyond what the Bullitt will have.
Plus I'll save thousands of $$$ sticking with the GT.

Couldn't agree with you more. My '95 GT Vert is still an Awesome Car, and I couldnt be happier with it. But that wont stop me from upgrading to an '08 GT soon. Then I will be lucky enough to have a 5.0 Vert and a New Coupe.

Not saying I wouldnt want a Cobra, have been waiting for one since 04, but too much hype and with our GT500's going for $25K above sticker, I will stick with a GT and have some fun with it.

Yup! Sometimes we all do forget that we drive a MUSTANG GT! One of the best sports cars to date in automobile history! I personally LOVE my GT with a passion. Everytime i get in it and start the engine, its like im in heaven. From the looks of the car, to the sound of the exhaust roaring, I just love it all. THE MUSTANG WILL NEVER DIE!
Just my 2 cents!!

I agree, these cars are awesome. All I have to do if I'm having a bad day is go for a drive, I'll be in a good mood before I know it.

I couldn't agree more. After almost two years of ownership I am still completely happy with this car. Puts a stupid ear to ear grin on my face every single time I drive it!

After a hard day at work I come home and tell my wife that I'm going for quick spin. She just smiles and understands what the car can due for my attitude. After I return home it's a Jack Daniels on the rocks and I'm fine!

all things considered, I think any s197 is the most bang for the buck out there today- or EVER for that matter, looks, handling, brakes, seats- feels great...the SOUND of the GT option is worth the price of the option, and for those lucky enough to get a Shelby- I can only dream

cant say enought good things about this car- but cant say enough good things about the change in looks with the silverhorse louvers either

4.00 gas/EPA-MPG constraints on the horizon/ mideast instability...hey guys its looking like 1971 all over again...anyone out there on the fence about getting a new mustang PLEASE take a GT stick for a test drive- you will not be disappointed
I just hope this aint the equivalent to the '69 end of the 69 to 1974 model
improvements, but afraid history will repeat itself again- dont put it off, just go buy that 'destined to be classic' S197...in 5 years a Yaris might be the only car doing well, Ford might be gone the way of the Dodo bird... these ARE the good old days- and they are leaps and bounds ahead of the last 'musclecar era'. Saw a tweaked GTO running mid 12's last night- just how many streetable 4 doors in the 12's existed in the musclecar era?
If I live to be 100, I'll never forget this darn car-would probably still have it, and if I die tomorrow I'll be looking down to keep an eye on it
Aside from the REAL important things like healthy family/kids, faith, etc, enjoying this car ranks up there with seeing the grand canyon as a 'everyone needs to experience this if possible' type of thing...I can only hope everyone out there finds a vehicle they enjoy as much as I do this car.

'Stang Therapy.....It works.

Pony Cars and GTs will always be an eye magnet because of their classic looks and clean lines. In a city of foreign high end cars, the S197 stands out. Many have stopped me asking who is the builder of my '05 Roush. When I tell them Ford and Roush Industries, they look at me in disbelief. So, who needs a Cobra anyway?

I also love these cars.
I think one of the best things about the S197 Mustang is how easy they are to modify. You can easily change it to match your tastes.
As much as I love the Shelby's, I don't think I would enjoy owning one as much as a basic GT, because I would be too concerned about maintaining it's originality and not putting any miles on it.
I had a 01 M3 and loved the car, but it was pretty expensive to maintain...and forget about modifying it. You would need a line of credit to afford that.
When the S197 Mustangs came out I was instantly hooked. I hadn't been this excited about a Mustang since I bought a new 5.0 liter back in 1986. (I was just a pup back then.) And the aftermarket is great!
Before I bought my 06 I had limited mechanical experience. I still am somewhat limited, but with sites like this having helpful people give techinal information and support, I have overcome a lot of my fears about tinkering with my car. (Of course not using the car as a daily driver helps)
Plus you can get so many great ideas of what to do next and how to install it......like Forced Induction!!!!
I agree with Ford4V429, we will look back at this car as a true classic.

It truly might be like 71 all over again! Gas prices show no signs of receding. But regardless- the days of gas are numbered. The push is on for alternative fuel sources.
Get your Mustang now and enjoy it while you can!

I know people seem ****ed at Ford for not putting out a 400hp engine. But with all the problems they face selling a few vehicles with 400hp is probably not something that is even close to being on their radar screen.
They are simply looking to survive!

Because of a family emergency and some traveling, I haven't been behind the wheel of mine for almost two weeks...I'm going through serious withdrawals and I'm counting the hours until this weekend!

You can't go wrong with any mustang, they are all great cars with a proud heritage. Be it V6, SVO, GT, even the Mustang II, I give them all a wave, and love watching them all run at the track.
