This sounds a lot like the reasoning you used to hear a lot, but don't hear quite as much (for some reason...) about why people don't wear motorcycle helmets (I can hear better without it, I look cooler with windblown hair, etc...) or wearing bicycle helmets (I never wore one as a kid, I don't ride that fast...) or about wearing seatbelts (they might trap me in my vehicle if it crashes into a lake or starts on fire, I might be better off being thrown clear of the vehicle in a crash...) or about smoking cigarettes (I smoke the LIGHT variety, I plan to quit when I get older, I'm too old to quit...). Everyone makes their own choices in life; for me this one is easy. I encourage everyone to get airbags. I guess the odds are 95% of people will never have the need for sideairbags...I wish the best of luck to the other 5%.

Ok, so the airbags are in the seat, the sensor is in the door, I do not want them period, the reason they are an option is...we still have the choice to make, nobody has mandated that anyone has to have them, as for me I have not chosen this OPTION, My dome, LOL and the rest of me has survived just fine without side airbags so far, I'll take my chances , as for the rest of you please, if you feel safer with the airbags by all means get the option, 300.00 is not alot of money to some of you I guess, but I think it's a waste. I would also recomend you wear you're seat belts, and brush up on you're driving skillz, mine are fine, and I wear seat belts, I am sure all of you flamers do not however, you must think the side air bag is a substitute or something, you are wrong period...Time will tell wether or not these air bags turn into an issue, but it will not be an issue for me...Good luck !!

Wow. What reasoning, lol. Brush up on our driving skills? Yeah, what about the other people on the road? The best drivers can't always get out of the way of some idiot. And I, for one, do not think the side airbags are a subsitute for anything! They are, though, a supplement to everything else. But that's just me, the more peace of mind the better I feel. And good luck to you too!!! I think you'll need it more

Grantsdale and BaDandy:

I have said numerous times, as have others mods, we dont care if you disagree, what we dont want is you being rude about it. Do you think either one of you can do it?

I never said this thread was out of control, I said dont be rude. I never said that because I walked away from two that everyone will, I said I walked away. For two posters who brag about thier literacy, you two seem to miss the mark continually when it comes to me.

As for my car, there are several people who dont like it, and I am ok with that. There are several people who posted they dont like it, and no skin off my nose. What I dont want to see for me or any one else is "that is a POS, and I think should be taken to the wrecker". As for the threads that go like that with color etc, they do get stopped EVERYTIME, but you two fail to see it. Defensiveness? Not at all! I think maybe you are reading into it too much.

I never said not getting FSA was smart. You say I did.

Grantsdale you are absolutely 100% wrong. It is entirely possible to have disagreeing adults with out one bit of name calling. Show your intelligence and debating ability, and DONT CALL NAMEs. I bet you can do it. Read a few of Purple Haze's posts.

If you were going to ignore it, why comment on it? That is so typical YOU Grantsdale. The difference, because apparently you failed to see it, is that I called a thread stupid, and not the people. It disintegrated into YOU and others calling posters names. So, no, it is NOT hypocritical.

I am not bent out of shape that you disagree with me, I am bent out of shape because of your tone and attitude. Simple, really.

Badandy, I am not surprised one bit that you agree with Grantsdale. The two of you should start your own little club.

I have an idea, how about if we not get into a huge discussion over what you feel of me, and I will leave the two of you alone, and be done with it. How about if we get back on topic?

I dont see any real disadvantages of having FSA, I wanted them, and ended up without them. I am actually looking into getting them done aftermarket, since my daughter rides in the front seat now. I think the advantages are huge.

See how I did that Grantsdale and Badandy? Answered the question without flaming, its pretty easy. You two should try it.

As for mmoonshots question of seat bealts, with the 05, everytime. My husband I laugh at the car being a tattletale. I actually have come to depend on that little alarm, just because people do forget. HOWEVER, I stand by the opinion, that if you choose not to wear one, that is your choice, and I am not going to be a rude jerk about it.

Really. Where in this thread is there name calling exactly? I know I did not call anyone names, the only part that could be construed as such is when I said "now die" to someone because they couldn't listen to two pages of people telling them they were in the seats. I would like a quote of this "calling each other idiots".

I think that you are trying to be a bad *** because I replied a few times.

And if you are going to say that telling someone to be informed is name calling ... I pray for the future.

scothew, thanks for the offer but I can handle myself.

I can tell you are new to forums. Thats ok. However, when you create a thread and ask for responses, you have to be ready for what you are going to hear.

Let me ask you one question: who is your insurance company? The reason I ask is because it might actually be cheaper to buy them.

Edit: Also, the sensor in the door is there regardless. It is the same sensor that is used for the passive or active-anti theft system.

I thought some of you might be interested in this info, found at http://www.news-medical.net/?id=3655:

"Occupants of automobiles involved in side-impact crashes are three times more likely to suffer a traumatic brain injury than people involved in head-on or other types of collisions, according to a University of Rochester study published online for the August edition of Annals of Emergency Medicine.

Lead author Jeffrey Bazarian, M.D., MPH, also found that brain injuries from side-impact crashes are usually more severe. Bazarian and colleagues analyzed a sample of all crashes reported by police to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for the year 2000 to determine the relative risk for brain injuries. Bazarian is an attending physician in the Strong Memorial Hospital Emergency Department who has been studying several aspects of brain trauma. Three years ago the National Institutes of Health funded him to start the nation’s first Emergency Department-based registry of traumatic brain injuries.

Other key findings from the NHTSA analysis:

* Traumatic brain injury is the cause of death in 51 percent to 74 percent of single-vehicle side collisions, and 41 percent to 64 percent of multiple vehicle side-impact crashes.
* Better head protection could reduce all crash-related brain injuries by up to 61 percent, and fatal or critical brain injuries by up to 23.5 percent. In raw numbers, that would translate into 2,230 fewer deaths or critical injuries each year.
* Crashes on the side of a vehicle cause 10,000 deaths each year in the United States.

“We believe our study results are important for drivers, emergency responders, automakers and legislators, who rely on accurate information about the risks associated with motor vehicle crashes, Bazarian says. “If the sides of cars can be made as safe as the front, many fatal and non-fatal brain injuries could be prevented. Increasing the number of vehicles with side air bags that protect the head would be an important step in the right direction.â€"

Hey G'Dale, can you please only quote the pertinent aspects of the post you are replying to? It makes posts that much longer when trying to read them. Wasnt that a reason to shorten signatures?

Show me please where I was trying to be a bad ***. Actually, dont, I am done with this. It is not productive, and certainly adds nothing to the thread.

you can be one of the best drivers out there, but its the other people to think about on the road as well. For example the other night i was leaving work to go home and a lady pulled up in a big dual cab truck she could barely park. She gets out and allmost falls on the ground and asks where a bar is. Just think this woman is driving a loaded weapon and on top of that it was real foggy out. So and this is just my opinion its worth paying a little to save ALOT. Take it from someone that was in a car accident, without an airbag i may have lost my mother do to someone elses carelessness

Grantsdale and BaDandy:

I have said numerous times, as have others mods, we dont care if you disagree, what we dont want is you being rude about it. Do you think either one of you can do it?
You know Jessica, I wasn't being rude about it. And I frankly think you are acting pretty inappropriately as a moderator. Just because you had a little disagreement with me in the past doesn't mean you should discredit all my posts as nonsensical and arguementative.

I wasn't being rude either. I really don't want to argue about this, but you have left me no choice. I merely stated my opinion bluntly. That's not being rude. I didn't say mmoonshot was the most stupid person on the planet, I just said it was ridiculous not to get side airbags in my opinion.

I never said this thread was out of control, I said dont be rude. I never said that because I walked away from two that everyone will, I said I walked away. For two posters who brag about thier literacy, you two seem to miss the mark continually when it comes to me.
I in NO way bragged about my literacy in this thread and it has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Just because I can articulate my opinions does not mean I am bragging about anything.

I like the mock-up, too! I was just citing your posts in there as extreme in the criticism department. As evidence, you said this at the very beginning, "First off, I dont take criticism well, so BE NICE. If you dont like it, just say, "Not my thing, but HAVE FUN!" You will make me cry if you are mean to me." I am not saying this was wrong, but you seem to be so averse to taking any criticism. If you don't have something nice to say, you are right, don't say it, but you are so touchy one can't even express an ounce of distaste for something or assert an opinion without you jumping all over them. Again, I even have to add this disclaimer. I am not yelling this at you I am just explaining.

I never said not getting FSA was smart. You say I did.
Did I? Or did I just say it was simply ridiculous not to get them...

Grantsdale you are absolutely 100% wrong. It is entirely possible to have disagreeing adults with out one bit of name calling. Show your intelligence and debating ability, and DONT CALL NAMEs. I bet you can do it. Read a few of Purple Haze's posts.
Grantsdale also expresses his opinions well and is more blunt than I am. Many people mistake that for rudeness, but he is very intelligent and is fed up with people misinterpreting him.

If you were going to ignore it, why comment on it? That is so typical YOU Grantsdale.

The difference, because apparently you failed to see it, is that I called a thread stupid, and not the people. It disintegrated into YOU and others calling posters names. So, no, it is NOT hypocritical.
Sure you didn't call him a name, but that is just as insulting as any name you can say. Nice way to point the "internet finger"

Badandy, I am not surprised one bit that you agree with Grantsdale. The two of you should start your own little club.
Why thank you. Shall we Grantsdale? Again, my comments saying topics are ridiculous are nothing compared to your insults and hatred of Grantsdale and I.

I have an idea, how about if we not get into a huge discussion over what you feel of me, and I will leave the two of you alone, and be done with it. How about if we get back on topic?
I believe our first comments were on topic. But no, lets attack Badandy and Grantsdale.

I dont see any real disadvantages of having FSA, I wanted them, and ended up without them. I am actually looking into getting them done aftermarket, since my daughter rides in the front seat now. I think the advantages are huge.
Exactly. That is what I mean. That is what I said.

See how I did that Grantsdale and Badandy? Answered the question without flaming, its pretty easy. You two should try it.
See how you did it? Did you even read what you wrote? You, a moderator, the supposed representative of TMS, just insulted two senior members that I think contribute to this board. You took words out of our mouths and misunderstand us everytime.

HOWEVER, I stand by the opinion, that if you choose not to wear one, that is your choice, and I am not going to be a rude jerk about it.
And in the last thread about seatbelts, did I EVER say he NEEDED to wear it? No, I said it was stupid not to. I didn't say he shouldn't have the right to not wear it, I stated an opinion.

That's how I roll <--------yes, I just said that.

Can we move on from our differences Jessica. You have a trip evertime we type something. I want to get along with you, so please, stop hating us. Im done with this response.

EDIT: Wow, why aren't my quote tags working. And scotthew, I would consult Jessica Rabbit directly, but she turned of pm's because she got into an arguement with me and over reacted. Feel free to do whatever you want with this, but please read it.

Wow, you people that have your cars should be happy. What about us that don't and are vehicular frustrated? We have to come on here for our satisifaction, to get by, and we have to read things like all this arguing. Can't we all just get along and realize who the real enemies are out there, Chevy. Pontiac and the Rice.
