Should I order now? Or wait until mid august?

The only reason I'm thinking of waiting until august to order is I won't have the whole down payment I want until late October or early November. So this way I figure if I wait until august, by the time the car arrives I'll have my entire down payment saved. I'm afraid to order too soon and get the car before I have saved all the down payment that I'd like to put down. Do you think if I order now, the car won't come until the end October or later? I know this would be a guess, but if I order now when do you think the car would arrive?

I saw a post by ISELLFORD showing that there are more mustang gt's in the mix for 06, so maybe the wait won't be as long? Although the info he posted was only for chicago.

Thanks again,
Mike

The orders seem to go quicker eralier in production, this was the case for 05 as well. People who ordered in Dec 04 got them in about 3 months, whereas folks who ordered in Jan/Feb of 05 waited more like 6 months. There is just no way to predict how it will go. I would order soon, and save as much as you can. Any extra money you have aside from your monthly payment you can always pay toward the principle.

you can try:

To Go and talk to the dealer your planning on ordering from, tell them your situation, and see if they can but a higher priority # on the order, and work it out when it comes time you want it the # can be moved to highest.

Maybe some December orders were 3 months.
Mine was 4 months and 10 days.

Order now.

Also remember that most dealerships will require $500 up front to place the order.

Yeah the $500 certainly won't be a problem. I will have a down payment of about $8,500-$10,000 by late October. I just want the payments to be mid to low 300's. According to my calculations, with the options I want, that much down will yield a payment of about 320-350.

But anyway, any other opinions on if I ordered soon, the car wouldn't arrive until the end of october?

I know these are just guestimates, but any guesses are welcome.

I just ordered my 06 GT yesterday. The dealer gave it priority 14 as he has a couple ahead of me. he expects a late October-November delivery which his fine with me as I'm in the same boat and need to incease the down payment pot.

This is a local smalltown dealer, and as I've bought a few other cars from him, they didn't require a deposit, and if the car arrives early, he'll hold it until I'm ready.

Also, in the Bay Area, every dealer I talked to is marking up the 06 at least a couple of thousand and absolutely no x-plan on the GT. My dealer is selling to me for MSRP and is the only one they're not marking up. Not the best deal around, but better than most around here.

Stan

Ordered 7/15/05- 06 GT Premium, Legend Lime, IUP, Spoiler Delete.

I just found a dealer who will accept the x-plan. So I'm thinking of ordering next weekend. He said they've recieved 3 orders already. Is being 4th inline pretty good?

RE: early vs late orders and time required to get them... Didn't the start of convertible production (30 Jan 05 was job 1 I think), slow the coup production?

Not sure what you are getting at here. People got 05's late because of the start of convertible production? Not sure what you mean

Well, many of the parts are common between the two. They started producing the convertibles, and now instead of just the GT coups needing engine, now the convertibles do too... unless they were not producing near max for the engine BEFORE the convertible production began, it seems that *something* would have to give... add to that hoods, suspension parts, interior parts... all are common...

makes sense to me...
