Seat Belt Tension for Auto X

Does anyone know of a way to manually lock the seat belt tensioner on the driver's side. The manual says you can lock the passenger side by pulling the belt all the way out then releasing. So, what if the driver wants to be clamped to the seat? I'll be going to this month's Auto X and I don't want to go back to the clip I used to use. It would be real cool to have a switch to turn on the tensioners.

Anyone thought of this or investigated yet?? Am I like missing something obvious??

Thanks !!

you can "lock" the driver's side by setting the belt fairly tight (not all the way), giving it a quick jerk with your hand, hold it there then move the seat forward to take up the slack. It takes a little practice to get it perfect but that will do the trick if you don't want to use the CG-lock to at least get the lap portion of the belt tight.

another trick is to get the lap section tight when in the latch, then pinch the belt itself just behind the buckle, unbuckle the seatbelt, and twist the buckle around a couple of times. That will keep the lap section tight, at least. You'll have the inertia lock working on the shoulder part of it too. That's a tip I learned in an autox school I took a few years ago.

I used to have a '94 suzuki sidekick that would do this. If you pulled the belt all the way out, as you let it back it it would lock at any place you wanted it untill it was let all the way back it. It worked for all 4 belts. It was a fantastic trick for road trips in the back seat. You could make a "face sling" out of the seat belt to take a nap and it would hold your hear up while you sleep. Quite comfy.

Hey, thanks for the ideas. I had used the old "H" ring for kids car seats. I have not seen the CG Lock until now. Looks better then the H ring. Although....... Being an electronic techie type I think it would be real cool to flip a switch.... I've got the schematics & adding a switch is simple --- if you can find a location for it and, of course, find a good place to tap into the harness. If I have the time to play one day I'll post the results.

Oh yeah, and Ford for whatever reason only allows the passenger side to be locked by pulling the belt all the way out & letting go......... Really can't figure that one......

Huh, I've done a few AutoX's and I've never thought of doing this. Usually my belt tightens up pretty good the first time I hit the brakes hard before I turn in, and stays that way till I actively lean back in the seat. My inertial reel might be more sensitive than others.

you could put a rocker switch on the seat itself. alot of wire to run then. probably be easier to mount near ebrake
