Remote Windows

Not sure if any of you were of this, I certainly wasn't aware of it after owning my '05 over 7.5 yrs. if you double press the unlock button and hold, it will automatically roll down your windows. I know most vehicles have that option but I never actually tried it with mine just assuming it didn't work. Fun little trick

Someone had a thread going a little while ago about this. There's very few that have this feature enabled. But mine does, and I use it all the time.

It is a great feature to have when your car has been sitting in the sun all day.

Is there a way to activate it? I don't have the factory alarm activated if that is a requirement, but I don't see how it is.

Best I can remember, they deactivated it halfway through the 2005MY. If it was made much after that, I think the dealerships could deactivate it. But 2006 and later, I'm sure the feature isn't even there at all. You could try checking with a dealership, but I'm 99% sure they wouldn't have a clue what you're talking about and would just look at you like you're crazy.

Opening all windows (if equipped)

You can open the vehicle
s windows by using the door key or the
unlock control on the remote entry transmitter.
Press and hold the unlock control on the remote entry transmitter, or
turn the key toward the front of the vehicle and hold it for more than
two seconds to begin to open all the windows. Pressing any button on
the remote entry transmitter, or returning the key to the center position
will stop all motion.
Note:

Your vehicle must be equipped with the active anti-theft system,
the ignition must be in the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position and the accessory
delay feature must not be activated in order for this feature to operate.

Closing all windows (if equipped)
Note:

This operation is only available using the door key in the driver
door lock cylinder.
You can close the vehicle

s windows by using the door key.
Turn the key toward the back of the vehicle and hold it for more than
two seconds to begin to close all the windows. Releasing the key to the
center position will stop all motion.

Note:

Your vehicle must be equipped with the active anti-theft system,
the ignition must be in the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position and the accessory
delay feature must not be activated in order for this feature to operate.

If an obstruction occurs, turn the key toward the front of the
vehicle and hold for more than two seconds in order to reopen
all the windows.

Before operating power windows, you should verify that they are
free of obstructions and ensure that children and/or pets are not
in the proximity of window openings.

So is that first part describing how to enable it? How do you know if you have active anti theft? I have an 08 premium which I'm sure has anti heft security. I know a blinking red lights occurs on the inside gauges .

No, that's just showing how to actually use it for those that have it.

If you have the active anti-theft, you'll have 2 little circles on the vertical part of your map light housing. Those are the motion sensors.

The window feature won't work on your car. It has to be a 2005MY to even have it, and it probably had to actually be built in 2004 (or shortly thereafter) to have it enabled. If it's not enabled, a dealership would have to activate it.

ahh I see. Yeah I have those two sensors on my map light housing. Like one points towards the drivers side, and other to passenger. What do those sensors do?

Lock yourself in your car, and move around...

Or roll down the windows and lock it, then try to reach into the center console...

If my car is locked up it, will go off if you stand near the door too long.

I don't usually leave my car unattended with creepers by the doors, so I don't know for sure about standing beside it. But I know it'll go off if I reach in for anything.

So like if you leave the windows down an then car is locked. You reach into the car an it will go off?

It should go off with the windows up and standing there too long making break in hand gestures.

Standing outside the car with the windows up and waving your hands, no. The sensors aren't aimed at the windows. I walk by my car in the garage with windows down, alarm armed all the time and it never goes off unless I forget and reach into, through the window opening, to grab stuff off the seat.
