All lights a GO at night. They look great and they light up the road really well. almost think the fogs are better then the headlights. also darrly might not liek this but i jsut put Nokya artic white fogs in and Artic white Xenon Headlamps. ill find out tonight how bright they are. if not brighter than stock bulbs they get sent back.

Sounds like he was looking for an excuse to pull you over. Cool that he couldn't find anything to write you up about in the end.
(do you have a front plate, and is the radar detector legal in NH?)

radar detectors are only illegal in DC, Virginia, and military bases

I first turned my fogs on when I was on a deserted country road. I was amazed how they light the side of the road in a 180 degree arc around the front of the car.
Not two seconds after I flipped the lights on, a widdle bunny wabbit came running out of the darkness and across the road. I slammed on the brakes and missed it. If I had not turned the fogs on, I would not have seen it over on the side of the road heading for me.
I think the headlights are a little weak. I put Sylvania’s “Cool Blue†headlights in my Taurus, and they seem to be better than the Mustang. I will probably replace the ones in the stang soon as well. Till then, I tend to use the fogs.

Can u tell the difference when u have the fogs on and off?

Yes. The fogs are much brighter than the low beams.
I have no clue what the fog lights on the mustang do but real fog lights are designed to point toward the ground. The reason for this is in a fog if you point lights higher then the light reflects off the fog making it HARDER to see. Since, fog lights point toward the ground they usually don't bother people from the other direction (because they are not pointing straight toward them).
The fog lamps on the 2005 are honest-to-goodness fogs and work really well. They have the right beam AND they are better positioned than the ones people put real low. Low-mounted fog lamps have to be pointed more horizontal in order to be effective (no use pointing them straight down). The more horizontal they are, the more likely that a small rise in the road will point them up into oncoming traffic.
To make the point ULTRA clear, imagine fog lamps mounted above your head. Ignore for a minute that you'd be staring through the beam (not my point). The point is that up high they can point down and cover the 50-100 feet in front of the road AND still have a steep downward angle. You go over a rise, and they are still pointed down.
You are correct, however, in that you don't want fogs to point up like high beams. All you'd get is a big blanket of white in front of you!
I also know that there are "driving lights" although I have no clue what that means.
It's really simple. Fogs only with lows, driving lights only with highs. They are not technically effective when matched the other way (why run driving lights with low beams, it's like running with high beams, and why run fogs with high beams, the high beams are bad for fog).
I think the headlights are a little weak. I put Sylvania’s “Cool Blue†headlights in my Taurus, and they seem to be better than the Mustang. I will probably replace the ones in the stang soon as well. Till then, I tend to use the fogs.

I have heard the Silverstars are nice bulbs. But someone said they have a very short life . Anybody have any experience with how well they light and how long they last?

I'm not going to spend $120 upgrading all 6 bulbs to silverstars, no way. They are bright enough.

Just this morning a rabbit was sitting off to the right just waiting to run and I saw him just in time. Glad I had them on, they are good for things like that but in and around town I usually leave mine off.
Note to self: Watch out for Rabbits.

It makes me nervous driving at night with my fog lights on, because I also don't have a front plate......and I don't need to be attracting attention to that.

All cars do that when the high beams are on. (fog lights go off)
While it's true that the 05 fog lights are bright, they're also restricted to a very low level (unlike the high beams). Even with the fogs on, there's a very limited area that's illuminated... much less than on my 98 GT. There's no reason why the 05 fog lights should be a problem for other drivers. This is purely a case of ignorance by the cops regarding an unfamiliar new car.

I HATE it when people drive with their fogs on all the time. Some people, like me, are sensitive to light. When I get an eyeful of fog lights it can be painful and I can't see anything for a short time. Especially when the lights are up high and not pointed down like they should be. Fog lights are for FOG. Not to look cool. I know that most drivers think it is harmless and no big deal. And they are right, the car looks better with them on. Just remember that not everybody's eyes are the same. Now if I can just get everybody to make sure their headlights are aimed correctly...
