So it's 11:45 PM and I'm driving down a road with 2 lanes each way, DW Highway in Nashua, and I see this cop comming towards me. I pass him and look behind me and I see him pull a u-ie and flip the lights on....great. I wasn't doing anything wrong.

I get my license and temp registration out before he already gets to my car. He asked for it and it was already in front of him

cop: "did you just purchase the vehicle?"
me: "yes sir"
cop: "you were driving with my high beams on with oncomming traffic"
me: "no I wasn't sir"
cop: (has a look on his face like I just got done F-ing his wife ) walks to the front of the car and looks
me: flickers high beams, demonstrating on and off
cop: comes back to my window "those fog lights are awfully bright"
me: despirately trying not to correct him saying they're driving lights "sorry sir"
cop: walks back to his car
me: sits in my car and waits
cop: comes back hands me my license and registration "Dustin have a good night"

I just checked the manual and it indeed calls them fog lights. Oh well. Now I can start a running total of getting pulled over.

It makes me nervous driving at night with my fog lights on, because I also don't have a front plate......and I don't need to be attracting attention to that.

Well I've driven it past maybe 20 cops since I got it at night without problems. Now I understand why Ford made it so the fogs turn off when you flip the high beams on.

I just don't use the fog lights. They're really not needed for driving in normal weather conditions. They are pretty bright

it is fun, though if you have your "fog" lights on and someone flashes their brights at you. I return the favor, make sure they don't hit the ditch and drive on with the fogs on.

I use the fogs whenever I come into residential (dark) streets and they help alot, esp. around my work where people like to cross the streets wearing dark clothes at night. Also at night when somebody is riding a bicycle with no reflectors and dark clothes. If I make a run through the gears, I make sure there off so I don't attract attention any more that necessary.

I got pulled over by a cop in december for having "strange lights on" (my fogs). He made me show him how they are operated to verify that they were factory installed. Then since he couldnt ticket me for it, he spent the next 10 minutes inspecting the rest of my car for anything to ticket me for. I got tickets for no front plate, and for window tint.

I wasnt speeding or anything either =(

I have my foglights on at all times in the night because I enjoy the way they look (stupid reason yes) and they do provide a bit more light. I've stood outside my car and seen others driving and it's not bright enough that it cuases problems for other drivers on the road so meh, I do it. It's legal here, there's no reason not too.

That's the only reason you need.

That is crazy. How about all those people who put their head lights in and aim them too far to the top or to the right. Those lights drive me nuts. I have always wondered why some one had never pulled them over of said somthing to them about that. But to pull over some one for fog lights, Wow what an A-whole. Sorry guy!

I dont use mine at night unless I am the only car on the road, bc in my opinion it is a reason to be stopped, and not having a front plate I dont need any other reasons to be potentially stoppped so I just leave them off

I use mine only when I need to see the road better. I live in the country and it really lights up the sides of the road. Just this morning a rabbit was sitting off to the right just waiting to run and I saw him just in time. Glad I had them on, they are good for things like that but in and around town I usually leave mine off.

I drive around with all four lights on all the time. Better visiblity. The fogs do wonders for brightening up faded lines on the road, especially in the rain. Besides, they look cool. Actually, I have yet to see a single GT at night that didn't have the fogs on.

I use mine all the time at night. "The better to see you with, my dear" said the wolf.

To the best of my knowledge all automakers make it that way. I think it may be illegal to have both high beams and fogs on at the same time.
