I noticed the same thing the other day when I test drove a GT, I hope this is not common in all the cars, I would hate for mine to start having problems right away.

Where's your tapping noise coming from, Jen? Mine's in the rear on the passenger side. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet. I plan to make an appointment sometime in January.

Oops, just realized you're talking about the transmission. Mine sounds normal, so far. Hopefully your tapping will be something the dealer can take care of easily.

Keep us posted Jenna. This is the first V6 problem I have read about. Good Luck.

Does it do it in gear only, or does it make the noise in neutral too? Do you hear it while you are driving the car inside the cabin?

Mine started to make a "tapping" noise yesterday. But it sounds like a heat thing. I know that sounds weird...let me explain. I was sitting at a light and heard a "tap" from the rear....thought nothing of it....then I heard it again....from under the rear of the car!! It kept doing it even as I drove, but it didn't speed up or slow down with speed. But it sounds like that sound your exhaust pipes make as they heat up and expand. Same as when I shut down the car...you could hear it still. Im thinking that it may be an exhaust/heatsheild thing???
