how do they work ? my dealer said lastweek they called ford and they were workin on order number 0505 and mines 0507 so does that mean like ford gives the numbers in order from say like a dealer in florida ordered one a hour before my dealer in tennessee did that mean its number would be 0506 or does it not work like that? thanks

I could only guess that the dealer is referring to it's own order numbers. I would pose your question to the dealer and just tell them you don't fully understand what this means to you in the way of waiting time.

Sounds right. I think they're dealer specific. My order number is 1188 and my build week was 05/23/05.

Dealers assign order numbers; they have nothing to do with the factory. My dealer assigns numbers based on the calendar date, i.e. my original order was 0118 for January 18. The order number then shows up on the dealers order log as one way to track the car until it is serialized. Then the order number doesn't mean much.

My order number is 9443 and my build week is 5/23. Also I got a V6 vert, so I don't see any connections at all between the numbers and when to build

Order numbers are unique to each dealer. It is up to the dealer to determine their sequence. If you are 0507 and they are currently working on 0505, then the dealership's allocation is going to determine when your order gets pulled. I'd ask them what kind of allocation they are getting and that will determine your build date.

Good luck!!

Mine was C000,,,first letter is the salesman,I ordered it on 06/30/05 and still C/U and priorirty is 10.....Not a small dealer. If you are getting the car at X-Plan i would still stick with your dealer. But if you are paying around sticker why would you order one and wait 6 months or maybe not getting the Gt...I would just look around and see if they have any Gts on the dealer lots if you are paying around sticker in your area. For a V6 you should get it around Invoice if you look a bit....I got my GT at Invoice ,I guess i am kinda lucky that the salesmanager would have sold me the acr at that price.I see that Ebay are selling Gts at Sticker...Look a bit ,but i would never order a car again and wait.JohnnyT

There has to be a better way. Can't beleive people are still waiting a long time, Two Ford deales in my area, Crossroads Ford and Capitial have over 40 (maybe 45) unsold 05s/06s.
Inventories are high here. Customers orders ought to fill the bank more than "stock" orders.
FYI: Saw a traded in 06 V6 with 995 miles on it. Wow!

Capital ford does have alot of Gts but they are Sticker MSRP ONLY...They will take a order on X-Plan but good luck in getting one..They will not come down on price but at least if you really have to have one they have a good selection of Gts.So whoever orders one at MSRP is crazy because you will need to wait and why wait when there are lots of ford dealers that will sell at sticker.Don't think Capital will get many more stang gts because they are asking Sticker and if they have as many as they say and people not buying them.their allocations will be slim in the future.(the more stangs they sell the more they get}JohnnyT
