Order numbers

I just got my order number today and I was wondering since it was so generic and odd looking if this looks to be a standard order number or if my dealer is just giving me something so I stop asking for it. Mine is R-062. What are some of the order numbers you all have been getting? And what type of time frame am I looking at now that I have mine. (for those of you who have already gone through this process anyway) Thanks!

It is my understanding that order numbers are dealer specific. Each dealership decides its own order number scheme. Having said that, mine was 2501. Maybe R-062 is retail order number 62...

That really isn't going to tell you much in the long run tho. Yer best bet is to 1 ) Find out what the dealer's allocation is like, and 2 ) Get a VIN. Once you have a VIN, then the ball is rolling, but if the dealer is out of allocation, you could be stuck with just that dealer's order number for *awhile*...

Everyone is right, the order number is dealer assigned....mine is 4510. That combined with the dealer number is how Ford tracks the vehicle until the VIN are assigned.
I ordered mine Oct 25 and am still waiting on the VIN. I was told 6-8 weeks for delievery and from what I read I will be lucky to see in 8. This with a dealer who has plenty of Mustangs allocated to them.

Your dealer can tell you how many units they have allocated and for what weeks. It is they number of units that they have earned from Ford and are allowed to order. They get assigned to be pulled during certain weeks. Find out how many units your dealer currently has that are unspoken for and in what weeks and you can determine when your car will get pulled to be scheduled.
