No Music, Just Bass

This doesn't really matter now.... but I figured I would bring this up due to being curious. When I hopped in my Mustang to go home and I noticed the music wasn't loud at all. I went and turned it up more and more until it was at the maximum. Nothing was coming out of the speakers but a little bit of the bass. I was at that time listening to a CD so I thought maybe it was the CD so I switched to the AM/FM part and recieved the same problem. I then arrive home and after about an hour at home, it was time to leave again. I fired the 'Stang up and the music started playing again like nothing was wrong. Sooo I went into the dealer and they told me they would order me a new radio even though the problem wasn't a reoccuring one. So it's not a real issue with me now, but what could cause something like that to happen?

*FYI, I have the Shaker 500*
