So I went to a local dealership today to try and find a 05 GT and of course they didn't have any. I asked a sales rep how long of a line they had to order a 05 and he told me that as of a week and a half ago they are no longer taking orders on 2005s because they are too backordered. guess I'll have to wait 6 months til the 06 comes out... :bang:

Try other dealerships. That one has a long line of pending orders. You might have better luck at other ones.

What I meant to say is that the dealership told me that the Factory was not taking any more orders because they are too backed up.

Try few more dealerships. If they all tell you the same thing, then it may be true.

No, it isn't true. As of Friday, they are still pulling allocation.

Cool, thanks...maybe the salesman was just trying to sell me something on the lot by making me think that I couldn't get what I really wanted.

Grantsdale, where did you get your info from?

I was at the dealership last week and was told they were not taking any more GT hardtop orders but that was due to their allocation issue.

It isnt from the factory side as I just ordered mine last Thursday night and he had no problem getting it ordered. I asked him about the cut off and he said it wasnt until this summer. He got confirmation of my order from Ford Friday morning and is just waiting for the build date. Go to another dealer.

I can tell you for a fact that if you order from the military overseas program, you cannot order the 05 Mustang. I had to order an 06. No problem because I won't be back home for several months. My order date in Nov 1.

My Salesmanager told me last week that the factory will be chopping off '05 orders soon (new orders). The '06 models should start happening around the first of Oct. or so, and with the already backlogged order bank for '05's......???

I think if a dealership tells you they won't accept orders it is based on allocation and a long line of pending orders that they already have. When I ordered my V6 the dealership mentioned they aren't taking GT orders anymore because they didn't think they could get them built in time for the change over.

You could however order a GT Vert or an 06 of either design. So me thinks for once a Ford dealership off the beaten path might not be a bad idea for you.
