I got some news today that the cars we'll be seeing on the 23rd of March will in fact be a GT 350 and GT 500 Shelby by SVT. Both cars numbers will reflect HP levels on the cars. The 500 will be utilizing the twin screw Whipple, while the 350 will be naturally aspirated. The cars wont be exclusive SVT vehicles, but more shared by Shelby and SVT with badging to reflect the relationship...something like "Shelby by SVT". We'll see soon!!

This wouldn't surprise me. The possibility of this has been rumored/speculated before. It would make sense from a "retro" standpoint. I, personally would welcome it as long as there is not a major price increase. I think SVT would be foolish to try to get $50K+ out of the 500hp car, unless it is as Cobra R level car. That is fine by me, but, if the Cobra level car is only 350hp, good luck keeping the SVT fans happy. They will lose sales over that one, me included.

This is the best news I’ve heard yet! I would love to buy a GT 350 with a normally aspirated engine putting out 350 HP.

Um....if the Cobra is coming out as an '07, I doubt SVT would be building a GT500 with a twin-screw supercharger (unless that is the cobra which i doubt).

Plus, we've heard that Shelby is building a car with a GT engine which sounds more like the GT500?

I can see the GT350 though.......

Didn't you read all of the press releases where the next top-level Mustang kept being referred to as the SVT Mustang instead of the Cobra? I think the Cobra nameplate is dead boys, but if it is who cares? I had a Cobra I love the name, but when it all comes down to it, all it is is a couple of badges. As long as we have a car with a blue oval that is a beast (GT500) I don't care what they call it.

According to svtperformance.com, people are saying that the whipple website says they will have a supercharger in the 07 cobra. We'll see.

whipple said a long time ago that they would be in the '06 Cobra and '06 Lightning. The site has said that for a long time. Recently, they changed one of the ads to say '07 Cobra and '08 Lightning. I dismissed the former as a change of plans once they announced the Cobra was not coming until '07 MY. With this new ad, however, I am again encouraged that we will see the twin screw.

For Route 66: "Drink-your-Ovaltine?"

This is 100% speculation, but this is some of the most reasonable info I've heard in awhile, especially with what has been going on at SVT. I think a 500 and a 350 is a great idea. It would give us something a little different. A unique car with never before seen badging: Shelby/SVT, and a middle of the road car like the 350, where you would be able to pay slightly more for slighty more HP, without blowing your entire wad on the top model, which will probably be over $45K, well out of my range. 350 and a whipple add on would make me happy...... But again, I guess we will see. Why does time move so slow!!!!!

why would you buy an SVT that only has 50hp more than the 05 GT? Give me about 5 grand including install, and it would far surpass that.

For all the aesthetic differences a Shelby/SVT model will likely have. I could care less about the HP, for me 300 is more than enough. I like the idea of a mid level normally aspirated car because I don’t want a supercharged engine. I’m also guessing the Shelby/SVT will have something mounted on the hood, have sweet wheels and tires and if my wish comes true come from the factory with those ultra kewl Shelby stripes. That and I would be able to say I have a Mustang Shelby/SVT.

Surf'n, Without a doubt your correct, but I am talking about getting into an upgraded model, although at this point we have no idea what you will be getting for your money............or how much HP it will have......it will just be intresting to see. I guess this would be similiar to the 03-04 Mach 1's..........

Exactly, and why did people buy those cars over the GT for the extra money and only ~45 HP? Because those cars are awesome just like the next mid level SE or Shelby/SVT will be.

Hey don’t mention it. I was mainly referencing your post to solidify my response to SurfnSoCal.

you beat me to it. This was going to be my exact response. The 350 would likely replace the Mach level car and the 500 replace the Cobra (I hope anyway). Both will fit in with the desires of the people on this board regarding SEs with N/A 5.4 (?) and S/C 5.4(again, ?). The only naysayers should be the anti Carroll Shelby crowd. People have wanted Boss, etc., but, they will come in the future.

And also, that extra 50 hp wont screw up your warranty. I'm reading so many things about people doing the slightest mods and, there goes the engine light again. Better take it in. Oops, hope dealership won't be mad I messed with computer.
I would just prefer a stock car w/the extra hp. Just my opinion. And trust me, my opinion isn't worth even the 2 cents everyone else has.
