Need opinion about window tint

Hey Guys

So I drive to SFO were my GF works and I pull over as soon as i pull over to park a cop passes by and i roll my windows down there starring at me and they back up and step out of the cop car. Tells me I'm not suppose to have any material on the windows. Ask for registatration and license and Looks at them looks to see if I have a front license plate. Asks if I ever got pulled over for this reason. comes back give me a warning and drives away.

What do you guys think? A. Spend money to remove? B. Drive around to see if I get another warning or ticket or something? I have 50% tint on the Driver/Passenger?

In my opinion he was just looking to give me a ticket. Is removing tint a DIY or something and if so how? and if not how much? Just to add I have had the tint in CA for almost 2 years and also had it in my previous car for almost 3 years. Thanks Guys!

it is in fact illegal to have tint on the front windows, and to drive around without a front plate

that being said you see it all the time, and is loosely enforced.

Its a pain in the *** if you actually get the ticket because you have to go have your car inspected to verify its been removed and but the fines only like 15 dollars.

you can remove the tint yourself, windex will remove residue.

I was ticketed once, removed the tint got inspected and had the tint redone, its all on how much you like the look.

and I will be ****ed if I put the front plate on, I dont have that CA bumper and Im not drilling holes my front plates hanging on my wall lol

Don't take the tint off unless you get stopped again and are required to get it inspected. As far as the front plate get some of the material that they line toolboxes with and cut it bigger than the plate. Place the mat and plate on your dash so it is visible through the windshield. Some cops may give you crap about it but atleast you have it visible. Just tell them the bolts were lost.

If you really need to have the front plates and don't want to drill holes, search the forums for a drill-less license plate brackett/holder. It attaches under the front bumper.

there is also one that is centered on the car, but you cannot flip it down like the moss one.

ive gotten pulled over about 4 times for my tint since i got it done. im 4-0 cause every time i show my work id and get out of it. i figure if i get 2 or more tickets for the tint ill have it removed but to tell you the truth the tint really is so much better since im not blinded on the way home and the look is just worth it. id say keep them but after 2 tickets, time to go blind

Hey Guys thanks for the reply I think I will keep it on for a while. it's only 50% so I think the cop was beeing a Ahole but what ever. I have had it for almost 2 years with no problem and I will probably trade it in in the summer so if I can avoide it I will. Sorry for the confusion but I do have the front plate, What I meant was that he went and checked. But if I do get bothered I will take it away right away. Just hope he isn't a pernament cop car that roams around the SFO car rental place.

I'd just be sure if you see one and roll by with the windows on the down low.

Dont worry about it, leave it, I've never heard about no tint on the front windows.
