Unhappy

I need some advice about buying.

First of all I am 18 years old and I love the 05. I have a 66 as my daily driver and would like to retire her and work on the long process of restoring it. I have been interested in buying an 05 GT but that is alot of money for only being 18, but then the car is worth it. I have been going over my not so many expenses and I think I will be able to afford one this spring. I thought about ordering one around April. Figuring in May I will be graduating and will be getting some money there for a down payment plus the money I save till then. Figure 25K then 5K down payment = 20K, But with how slow production is... If I were to order in Early April when would I expect to be able to pick it up from the dealer? June?? July?? August?? If so maybe I would be better off to buy the 05 during the 06 MY and get a better discount? How much would I expect to be able to pick up a 05 during the 06 MY? 2-3K cheaper or would it be more? My Grandfather told me he will save me one of his Z plans so it would cost around 25K But in August or September would they be going for around 20K? Talked to our insurance agent and he told me that it would be put under my dads name and since my parents have a spotless record it would not go up that much at all.! Sounds promising!!

CONFUSED!!

Jeff

Most of the dealers I've talked to are saying approx 6 months from order to deliv. Talk to the local dealers in your area, call a bunch of them. The worst answer you get will probably be the most accurate. It also all depends on what packages you order. GT's will never be 20K, better start considering a V6.

I doubt that it would depreciate that much that fast...$2K is probably about right. There haven't been any rebates on this car yet, which from what I understand will help the car hold value. And the fact that you can't hardly find a GT on a lot may say that the demand might still be high by then.

As far as order to delivery, it looks like 10 weeks has become the average around here, not including those delayed because of parts issues...though it appears that it may turn into 6 months, from what other posters have been saying.

Lastly, have you considered insurance on the car? The two payments combined (insurance and car payment) may put you over the top.

Good luck!

Your worst enemy if under 25 is the insurance companies. Don't expect incentives on the GTs this year. Look at dealers' inventories, no GTs, but plenty of V6s and that's where the incentives will be IF they are offered at all.
