The dealer I have been dealing with returned one of my calls yesterday. He informed me that my car had not been ordered yet. I was a little shocked since I placed the order with him on July 26. He said he is only allotted two mustangs in the first shipment. Those two were ordered before I placed my order with them.

He said those two are due in any day now. He can't order my 05 until Ford gives him new allottments. But, he said my order will take precedence over non-orders. He said currently, my order is in the que waiting for Ford to allow his next batch of orders. He is not sure whan that will be, but is guessing that it will be in the next few weeks.

He said one of the first ones is a Red-Fire GT. He thinks it is fully loaded. I can buy it if I want. But it might be an automatic and it might have the IAP. He would have to check his computer when it got back on line. I definetely do not want the IAP. Too much red, and two different shades of red. If it doesn't have the IAP, it will be a tough choice. I would rather have a stick, but hate to wait longer. I just have to remember that it is not that much longer of a wait. And that there are other dealers out there. I think I will make some calls today to see what other dealers are getting in.

He also mentioned that Nov 15 is the "Big Roll Out" date. He did not have too much info on this, but said it is something Ford has planned for all the new cars.

There's alot to respond to here, but as a simple choice(haha), wait, get what you want, don't settle for what you didn't want, etc. You'll be happier in the end.

Sounds like you've been bait and switched. Told you could order one thing and then oh look - you can't.. but here's one you can buy only it'll be on their terms. Hope you have some kind of price in writing.

My situation is only a little better than yours. Ford confirmed my order on 06/11/04 but the status has not changed since. And, my order was the dealer's first allocation. They ordered 2 cars after mine. One of those is due here 10/23/04.

Step 1:

Step 2: I would find another dealer if I could

don't settle for anything except the car you ordered, you'll regret it in the end.

So far I have been checking the other local dealers.

First dealer Production is on hold and back logged. So we will not get ours until January.
Guess I will call you later. Or drive by with one in Jan that I bought at another dealer.

Second Dealer We are getting some in at the end of Oct, but we do not know what features they offer.

Third dealer We are getting some in, but they are not close to what I want.

Fourth Dealer This one made me worry. He said they are no longer a Ford dealer, but has switch to Chevys. Guess I can't get one thru them.

Gotta start to stretch the search area out some.

Its annoying here too. Even the Hybrids are driving us nuts, originally saying only 4000 total this callendar year, only one has shown, and now ford says 17000 in what, 2 months? They are going to make 17000 now, and our original 10 is a problem! what the? Thats going to be one heck of a finish to make 180000 stangs this model year at this pace :bang:

I don't understand that. My dealer has 10 ordered. 8 GT's and 2 6's.
I saw the order sheet. At the time, last week, 3 of them were bucked.
4 had build dates and the other 3 did not but had VIN's. How can they only allocate one or two but yet have dealers ordering so many?

I checked a few more dealers. One dealer said all his coming in were pre-orders. He even had an order from Hawaii. HAWAII?!?! This is Pittsburgh.

But on a good note, he said he is going to mail me the new brochure that they just got.

I would just order it somewhere else. You can ALWAYS order a car, you do not have to wait for an alottment. Even if the original allotment was booked, the longer you wait the longer it takes. For crying out loud our average mustang stock exceeds 125 on the ground when at full speed, what? they gave up at 10?

I can confirm -- all Illinois dealers I've called are getting 2 and only 2 Mustangs ONLY as demos. THEN they will start getting retail Mustangs.

This is why I can't understand how some people round' here are "just days!" from their Mustang delivery when Illinois -- RIGHT NEXT TO FORD -- is not getting more than 2 per dealer. This repetitiveness is getting boring!
