Some one should e-mail this topic and that pic to ford :bang: or even better <span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'><span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'>every one</span></span> should e-mail ford

I'm with you guys on this one...it's such an obvious miss by Ford and it would be so easy to own up to it and install (not replace - since they were never installed to begin with) the bolts - but typical to write a TSB "in case" the customer complains.....not slamming Ford here as all automakers do this - but where is the customer service here......IMHO Ford should contact each and every manual GT owner and offer to install the bolts at their next service or whenever.....not just hide behind a TSB that some dealers will honor and some will not :bang:

Believe it or not - there will be some manual tranny owners who do not participate in forums like this (excellent forum) that will end up living with that nasty noise as long as they own the car....not right....shame on Ford for not publically acknowledging this "oversight" and going the extra distance to keep us consumers happy....I'm in sales and if I treated my customers this way - I'd expect to be fired.....as "if I don't treat my customers right - my competition would be more than happy to".... sorry off rant now - just so frustrating when common sense does not prevail...

Those two bolts are present in my bellhousing (car built in June I think).

Since it's the cold season again I thought I'd reminisce. The missing bolts were almost as fun as the debates about removing the hydrocarbon trap. I just helped a friend pull the HC trap from her car this past week

You must have a cold .

Neither of those even came close to the entertainment value of the JLT debates or the FourCam330 drama . . . . . those were the days!!!

I recently was under my car and noticed that but didnt think anything of it because they are also missing on my dad's 90GT. But i would bang on the exhuast and couldnt ever pin point the source of this rattling sound. I would shift the car into different gears while underneath and the noise would change but I never thought about the inspection cover. They serve not one purpose of strength to bolt down the bottom part of the cover accept to keep that plate tight. So Ford penny pinched and left them out. But hey that will cost 200,000- 300,000 dollars in savings. But yeah I have to check that out and see if it rattles. Plus my dash makes noises, e-brake, door sills @ 3000 rpms on the passenger side, rear piece of A-pillar plastic by rear window. But none of these things the dealer will touch because I didnt get the full extended warranty.

I have the cold rattle also. My '06 was built on 8/30/05; however, the bolts are installed on mine. Guess I'll be pulling out the center console and looking elsewhere for the rattling.

Now I'm just wondering how many times this occured. Somewhere in MI there is a bin with a whole lot of extra bolts in it.

Ford Inventory Guy:
"Well shoot, I guess we didn't need as many bolts as I had estimated!"

Maybe he was sneaking out a GT one part at a time in his lunch box!

Hey guys,
I have had a problem that is very similar. I have a "tick tick" sound that I hear right around the center console/shift area. It really sounds like a penny on a baking sheet. But also I notice that when I hit an offset bump on the road it also makes this sound coupled with a squeak....If I hit bumps square not a problem...I am wondering if these bolts are my problem. What does it sound like to you?

Thanks
Irish

I definitely have a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the dash guage cluster area, during acceleration at about 2900 - 3500 rpm. It's louder when it's cold outside, and sometimes it goes away when the car warms up, but sometimes it doesn't.

My car was built Mar 5, 2005. I just checked the bellhousing for the bolts and they are there. I was hoping they weren't there, because that would explain the rattle!

Guys, check out the new TSB for Center Stack Rattle posted here. I had a loose passenger side isolator that was rattling. The driver side was solid. I bought a 2 3/4" hose clamp to tighten it. Finally resolved!!

Ok the official line...

According the local dealership Parts Dept - This bolt is listed as HN2... but they could not tell me the dimensions! And they acted quite suprised about the information I offered about the missing bolts. Also stressed quite clearly the fact that they did not want me to replace the bolt myself. Was told it would void my warranty. (Of course it's their job to tell you that) So then I said "ok, then can you get me an appointment right away to address this?" And he laughed...

And just an FYI for everyone reading.
I'm still trying to find the dimensions of that bolt. Scheduling an appointment is no easy task since they say they have to order the bolts!

I'm not too upset yet. But I wish I could see a bit more sense of urgency.

Wow only read this now , but will look today and if its missing I'll get a Ford issue bolt and stick it in that heck with them having my Baby for a whole day for a 10 minute job. If gone maybe I best take a picture and put it in thie3r black book of "Why some are not happy " !

I need to go check this, and I bet I'm not the only person who missed this thread the first time around. I definitely have this rattle, though it only started after I had the car for maybe 6-9mos. Thanks guys!
