I got October C&D today.
The only mention of the '05 Stang was 2 sentences in their 2005 vehicles section, nothing we didn't already know.
So it looks like we'll be waiting 4 more weeks for the November car rags to arrive with the drive reviews, etc. Again anti-climatic as some of us will already have their 2005 Stangs by then. Another reason why the Internet is the #1 source for car info.

Are there any tests of the 500/Montego/Freestyle in the October C&D?

They complain about the underpowerd V6s, talk about how the wide ratio CVT will help and then give estimated 0-60 times over a second slower that what Ford is claiming. They say the Freestar handles pretty well but say that it may have tough sleding as it is aimed at a market segment that is already over crowded with other vehicles.
On the 500 they talk about the huge interior and trunk and how it is unusual to move a platform downscale (from Volvo) but say that it is a positive for the 500. They also say they think the interior materials look cheap on the 500. They also tall about how the CVT was developed with ZF and uses the same chains as Audi uses so reliablilty should be better than the GM belt drive CVT fiasco. They don't mention anywhere how the 500 feels on the road or handles. In their opinion the styling is "uninspired" but say that the conservative styling may play well in the 500s target market. Lastly they give the 500 props for the long list of standard features power driver's seat, fold down rear seats, 17" wheels, 4 wheel ABS, traction control, keyless entry, A/C and CD player.
