Sorry Red/Black; I posted all the info I have. Perhaps the source or our contact with the source will read this and provide some more information.

Yes, bringing up the price would reduce demand, but it would not make a lot of people happy, if I knew in advance, I would order my car asap to lock in the price.
I guess another IUP would be offered at a good discount, especially if MyColor is the problem child.
I agree with Boomer, the 2004 IUP was not popular, it was barely noticeable, it wouldn't make or break a deal with me. The 2005 IUP is noticeable to everyone, and drastically changes the feel of the interior, at least for me.

Personally, I could totally do without MyColor.....while cool in a gee-wiz kind of way, I can see it as a set it and forget it kind of thing in reality, that plus I like the retro green lighting anyway

They could axe the IUP combined with beige interior. That looks crappy anyway because the beige and the alu clash imo. Btw I can't imagine anyone NOT taking the IUP. It's not a subtle difference, but it makes the whole interior look a full class cheaper...

hmmm... maybe i dont fully understand this situation.... if they are running low on the materials for the iup..... why doesn't the company that makes it- just make more???????

That's the same as saying "Hey Ford we all want our new Mustangs this month so build another 50.000 extra before November 1st will ya?"
No offence intended btw B)

If they took a good look at the black on black on black dash, they would have made that combo not orderable. It needs a grey or anything in the middle or bottom not to look less than favorable.

Jeez,
I hate to admit the salesman I really like and will not buy from was right. (Great salesman, the dealership is a horror movie)
I could give up the 125 colors for the aluminum happily. I know it can't be Delphi making the aluminum right?
The 04 IUP was the metal pedals and the 04 badging inside correct? I thought that was cool.

I like the MyColor; it is a fun toy to play with.
But the other interior facets of the IUP are mosre important.
I think even Ford underestimated what a hit the new Mustang would be.
Give 'em a little time and they'll catch up again. As for those dealing with it now, sorry folks. Welcome to joys of being an "early adopter"!

I think the biggest thing is, previously all Mustangs had the 6 gauge cluster. (Atleast the ones sold in Canada did. I don't have any type of interior upgrade in my 02, and it has all the guages.)
Now, you loose the volts and oil pressure guages, unless you get the IUP. Personally, even though all these guages ever do in my car is hover in the middle anyway, I think any kind of sports car is lame without them.

all i know is that if Ford does take away Myolor i am going to be upset. I think it is one of the coolest part of the IUP, even if it is not as shown as much as the aluminum dash. i'm the one that is going to have ot be looking at the gauges, and i want to be able to see it in white or orange if i want to!

Interior Upgrade Package:
This option contains:
- Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
Includes satin aluminum spokes.
- Satin Aluminum Door Handles
- Satin Aluminum Door Sill Scuff Plate
Includes bright MUSTANG lettering insert.
Includes satin aluminum applique instrument panel - ribbed pattern, special new bright polished 6 gauge cluster with ColourShift feature and message centre and dark charcoal front door panel inserts.
source ford.ca:
Looking at just what the Iup includes,i can only come to the conclusion that it is the "colourshift" or "message centre" feature that is the hold up,i mean how hard is it to come up with aluminum for everything else? Im sure ford will reorganize and offer a "Iuplite",without above said features.

The Mustang has had FULL INSTRUMENTATION standard for all models since 1979 and now with the 2005, you loose two gauges if you don't order the IUP ... kind of stinky. Of course the Oil and Charging gauges have been no more functional than idiot lights since 1994, so I guess I can see part of the rationale !!
The IUP for '03-04 was just an overpriced appearance package ($345), where the 2005 IUP offers some functional upgrades as well for not a lot more money ($450) ... not an apples to apples comparision IMO.
The "My-Color" feature is a thing that IMO does not belong in a Sporty Mustang ... would be more fitting in a New Beetle or PT Cruiser !!
