im suppose to install front license plate

I'm working on brackets... I'll post info if they actually turn out. My problem now is a place to bolt them on. I can find metal, but I can't seem to figure out how to get behind it for a nut. Maybe an expanding plastic nut put in from the front somehow. It's on my weekend project list along with Seq tail lights and painting my calipers.
My plans may still fall through, but if not I'll gladly share what I did. I'm surprised the after market mfg's have not picked up on this need.
Props to TampaBear67 for the concept!

You will get a ticket and be told you have 48 hours to install it and go to the police station to prove you installed it. At least that is the way it is around here. Personally I do like the looks of the car without it, but at $104.00 a ticket I would rather install it since they would force me to do it sooner or later.

I just received my plates the other day. I really didn't want to drill into the bumper cover either. But I agree with adrenaline. If you have to have it then you have to have it. Drilling the bumper stinked, but once the plate was on with a nice frame, I realized it doesn't really look that bad. Adrenalin is right, what difference does it make if it is on a bracket or attached to the bumper cover?
On my way home from work the other day I saw three cars stopped by the police. One thing they all had in common, none of them had front plates! Coincidence? Maybe. Why give the cops a reason to waste your time. Just drill the plate holes put the thing on and say to yourself, "Everyone has to do it and no-one really cares anyway if you have a front plate or not."
Just my take...

I think the senate amended it w/out the front plate law and sent it back where it died. No word on if it will be resurrected next session.

Well I hate the way it looks on my car but, it does make my job easier when I'm looking for someone so I'm not sure which way I like better.

And I just find it fustrating at a period where the state is whining about money that they don't approve of something that would instantly nearly double the margin with no additional costs to the taxpayer.

Believe it or not it is much easier to see the front plate of an oncoming car than it is to see the rear plate after it passes you. Especially at night when I work. With some of the car designs having the rear plate sunken into the body it's nearly impossible to read unless you are behind the car. If I'm just sitting somewhere then it's not a problem but, I'm talking about driving. It would save the state some money but, like I said either way is okay to me especially since I already have mine on.

As far as I know, in Texas, the plate doesn't have to be mounted to the front of the vehicle, just visible. So, with that said, you could make up some kind of bracket that you could slip over you passenger side sun visor, and when you saw a cop flip it down. Or go to vatozone, buy some suction cups, and use them to attach the plate to the glass. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Here is a retractable plate link I saved from an earlier topic on the site. I can't find the original thread but here is the link http://www.stylinconcepts.com/parts.aspx?k...rtfamilyid=1485
If I have to get a plate for mine I will most likely do this. That way for shows I can retract it and not have to worry about drill holes.

OK. Just for your Info out there, for those that just run without the plate. I'm sure most dual plate states are the same but here is the Missouri deal.
In Missouri both plates must be securely MOUNTED to the vehicle, front and back. Most PO's in the larger cities such as K.C. will pull you over for no front plate. They use this as a reason to stop you with the hopes that you have drugs, guns, etc in the car. If you havn't been stopped, odds are you will.
Here is the part I don't want to say, but will. I am a cop. Sorry. I don't ticket peeps for this often. Only when it leads to something else. Generally, if you admit that you were wrong I give you a warning. If you try to give me a BS line you usually talk yourself into a ticket. Though, each cop is different, and each city is different. Generally, the no front plate deal in KC is probably one of the most stopped offenses. Why? Because it is so incredibly easy to see. If you have no front plate and a Missouri on the rear, the only excuse is that it's a Dealer tag. Or motorcycle which doesn't apply to Mustangs.....
At any rate, it just leads to making your life more miserable when you do get stopped. I'll tell you, I'm more relaxed than most and rarely give out the ticket unless the party ends up with multiple warrants, crack, meth, guns, etc. But if you are running with no plates you probably will get stopped eventually.
KC Ordinance is a Mail In Fine with no points. $38.50 each time.
Having the plate in the car, on the dash, etc will not get you out of the fine if you go to court.
If you go to court and show a picture of the plate mounted to the car, the judge will usually ask the officer if it was on the car at that date and time. The officer will rerspond with a "no", and the judge will then fine you the $38.50 PLUS court costs for wasting his/her time.
If you work during the day, chances are you had to take off work to go to court as well.
I'm just getting the word out so you think a little. If you are required to have a front plate it will probably save you a lot in the long run to get the front plate put on one way or another. Less heart ache, less time and money lost to just spend a few bucks for a bracket.
Just one Pigs Opinion.....

I asked my "better half" about this as he is a cop (and we own a Mustang although it;s a V6 with the indentation for the plate) in a 2 plate state. He just about mirrored your post. He gives out a lot of warnings for it unless someone gets really snotty or has multiple violations. He has gotten some very creative excuses. It sucks but if it's the law in your state, then maybe you should try to change it rather than be rude to cops about enforcing it (although they would hopefully only give you a warning if you aren't running drugs or DUI or something like that). Just my opinion and not condoned by the state, etc.

I debated having the dealer not drill my front bumper, but decided to mount the front plate to have one less thing to worry about getting pulled over for. In KS there isn't a front plate but in MO there is. I haven't gotten my plates yet but I plan to put the front one on to relieve any extra attention/hastle.
