You placed an order. Salesman, sales manager says its on order but you find that in fact it is not ordered.
I do not understand whats to be gained by these people not being honest? They can not sell what they do not have so why do they not place the order when they have a live buyer?
I placed my order on the very first day and salesman said I do not know the price or when it will be in. I was number three at this dealership.
The car was one of the first 5000 built and was on quality hold but for some reason mine was moved up to number one and was the first one delivered in my area. It arrived Sep. 11th. My salesman kept me informed every step on the way. The truth. whole truth is I paid full sticker price not a cent more or less and I was not happy about this as I am a return customer.
Will some one with the FACTS not hear say please explain all this to me as I do not have a clue as to why these other dealers are not doing the same. Thanks

Sorry Mongoose, but I am having trouble figuring out just what you are upset about. What lie or un-truth did your dealer tell you? It sounds like they did in fact order it for you because you got it 9/11 and it sounds like you did not negociate the price ahead of time so MSRP seams to be fair. Not sure where the problem is

The local dealer will no longer get my business. As for lying, etc, like in any other business, some don't give a darn, others don't know whats going on and some unfortunately are intentionally less than honest.
Probably did not answer your question but there are good folks out there.

MONGOOSE,
I also live in St. Louis. Just curious as to which Dealer you are talking about. Was it Valley Ford in Hazelwood ? They had a very early car which was redfire in color. This is the same color noted under your current list of vehicles.

You are wrong to expect honest answers from unethical people. They can't help it, they succeed at it, specially when prospective customers show enthusiasm for their products. The best approach to a bad business transaction is to end it as expediently as possible. I would ask for the deposit back and go shopping. Besides, it is almost winter. How often would you be using it between now and the spring?

Ok, it sounds like you were happy with the service you received from YOUR dealer - just not particularly happy that you paid MSRP. But still, you got your car.
So, you're wondering why so many people appear to be getting the old bait and switch or shuck and jive from THEIR sales people and why do these sales persons do such despicable and dastardly deeds?
Why my good man, it is because they CAN! What repercussions do they get if get caught? Fired - maybe. And even if that happens, they just drift on down the road like so many other tumbleweeds and land another job at another dealership, all to start over the vicious cycle once more.
I've always said that Auto Manufacturers should worry LESS about customer satisfaction and MORE about losing customers because of DISsatisfaction. Nothing wrong in knowing if your customer - who has ALREADY paid the manufacturer for the vehicle - had a pleasant experience. It's just that I think if I were the manufacturer, I would want to know why people left my dealerships and bought elsewhere, even if it was my product they STILL ended up with.
Manufacturers get very few glimpses of how shoddy some of their own dealerships are. They need a cold dose of reality.
If you get lied to, ran around, and generally disrespected LET FORD KNOW ABOUT IT!!!!
Yes, there are some great dealers out there. But when the bottom line is money and when you have dealers or sales people who do not really care HOW they get that money, we the customer are in a lose-lose scenario. IF you find yourself even wondering if something is wrong, it is highly likely that IT IS.
Buy from someone who is willing to EARN your trust. Even if you DO pay a few dollars more, the peace of mind is priceless.

I have a question, mongoose. How did you get your car Sept 11th when they weren't "ok to ship" until the end of September?

Maybe there's a good reason?
