Today I picked up the January issue of 5.0, and according to one article, they weighed a production '05 GT (race weight with driver, passenger, and fuel) at nearly 3,950LBS They figured that the actual dry weight of the car is about 3,600+LBS...can anyone confirm this?

He gives the weight of the car with him in it as 3,740. Assuming he weighs around 200 lbs, that puts the car at 3,540 but we don't know exactly without knowing his actual weight.

Ford says that the GT 5 speed weighs 3487 (premium 3506) or 3356 (premium 3375) dry. If you go to Ford's mustang page ( http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/features/specs ) and click on Maufacturer's specs (pdf) it will list tons of stuff (including how much the different options weigh).

EDIT: I just wanted to also say that if you haven't seen this spec sheet it's pretty amazing. It lists an unbelievable amount of stuff, it even gives the thickness of the glass.

Anything over 3,200lbs. is too much. Dump the My Color and the fugly door subs and spend the R&D $$ on shedding some pounds. Add some aluminum, did wonders for XJ8.
