Thumbs down

I can't believe no one has mentioned this wheel. I found it on tire rack as one of the wheel options for the 05. Like I said it's an 18x10 inch wheel that weighs only 19lbs for $519 each! I know $519 is not exactly cheap, but for the size, look and weighing less than most 17x8 it is a great price. Anyone have them or know anything about them?

Here is the link to a large pic...

I personally don't want any less than a 10" wide wheel.

Oops, I guess link doesn't work. I think one of the reasons I like them is they have a very similar design to the wheels on the Ford GT which I think are one of the best factory wheels I've seen.

I think they are okay, but $2100 for four rims is out of my league. Those spokes don't look very thick where they connect to the rim, either...I'd be concerned about hitting a pothole and breaking the wheel...

Just for comparison, anybody know what the stock and/or optional GT rims weigh?

Sorry, not feeling it. Would hate to worry every time I took the car out about breaking a $519 rim. But wait, I would never spend that on a rim anyway! I have kids you see.

I agree, a polished lip would set them off. Regardless of what all of you think, they are strong. They are forged aluminum and have been used on the Japanese GT Championship cars. For those that don't know, these are full-on race cars that are around 2,200lbs and about 500hp. If it can handle those I think they will be fine for a street car. I really am not surprised by the responses. It seems most of you are into the muscle car look than a sports car look.

Ummmmmm, forged aluminum is more expensive than cast aluminum.... always has been. It is "the real thing" just a better process. Race wheels are typically forged aluminum or magnesium.

O.K., sorry, I just don't have the yen for those wheels.
The weight is impressive, though.

Ok, so they only look fragile. IMHO, this car is a muscle car and projects that image. Putting expensive, massive, spindly thin wheels on it does not enhance the true spirit of the Mustang. Again, just speaking for me, the fact that they are used on Japanese race cars is not a good selling point for using them on my Detroit built street bully.

The cool thing for you is that it doesn't matter what I think or anyone else for that matter. Enjoy your car and do what makes you feel happy.
