heated seat switch location

I got heated seats from the Mrs for christmas and I was wondering where to place the switches. these are a dual heat setting heaters. So the factory seat heaters will not work.

Any ideas as to where to mount em?

Heres my ideas:

1. just above the shifter, and below the large cup holder
2. some where below the radio, and the hvac controls
3. on the side of the seat where the controls are

Whats your thoughts?

Thanks Tim

The factory seats have heaters?

I voted #3, seems most logical and out of the way.

If you were to intergrate the switches using the factory switches and thier location then go for it. On a more economical scale I would just locate them on the seat side trim. Making places anywhere else on the dash or console just makes it look cluttered like an afterthought.

Most of the cars I have ever seen with heated seats added on later had the switch mounted on the side of the seat trim, near the power seat switch. I previously worked at a few dealers and their vendors always mounted them there.

I'm going through the same decision. I have 3 level heaters, and the level indicator is on the switches. I definitely don't want them on the seat side trim where they're impossible to see while operating tha car.

Haven't settled on a good location though. The asymetrical nature of the console top makes a goog looking install there tough.

Every car that I have had with heated seats has had the switches mounted on the front side of the lower part of the seat (just to the outside of your knee). IMHO, this is the worst place in the world. I cant tell you how many countless times I accidentally turned them on just sliding into the seat as the lower seat cushion flexes downward turning them on. Also, it makes it very difficult to see if you are turning them on or off, or what setting they are at.

Well the seat heaters are getting installed on saturday, and I think I'm going with that small narrow part to the right side of the shifter, the top will be the drivers, and the pass. side will be right below it. The switches are black in color, so I think it will look good there, besides, that way I can see if the pass. side os turned on or off. the only thing that kept me from mounting it on the side of the seat is that I can see some marks from my shoe/ leg, that might turn on the switch. Thanks for the reply's, I'll post up some how to's when I do the install!
