I spoke to my dealer this weekend and they told me my order just was given a build date. Wow was I happy untill they called me back today and told me that my sold GT and another guys was bumped back for 2 V-6's that are not sold.
Has this happened to anyone else? They told me this was done by Ford for EPA reason trying to get the V-6's out first.
Any info on this would help. Right now I'm just mad and don't understand why 2 sold cars are pushed back for 2 cars noone want. :bang: :notnice:

Ugh!! That's horrible! Can they really do that? I guess they can or they wouldn't have done it... I hope that it's just random dealers - in which case you could go to another dealer?

That stinks...

My dealer two weeks ago infromed and a month before that, that Ford put a memo out to all dealers to do a 50/50 split on there orders for Mustangs. When I asked about mine he said its out of my hands Eric. If Ford wanted the stock V6 at my dealer built over my retail GT that is what they will pick next week when the next Mustangs are scheduled to be built. That stinks and stinks bad, but he told me even if he changed the the order on the V6 to manual transmission to make my reatil car one they should pick that, the new Ford order system will or can change the the stock order to an order that can be built. In other words iif things work out like they might and I hope they don't in a couple of weeks he will call me that my car was passed over. I really really hope that my GT order that is a retail will get picked over the other. You would think as a default that Ford would want any reatail order built over any stock unit, but that is me.

I think we have like 20 GT's only on order, the only V6 is a manual, so I wonder what they will do

at least you guys have your priorities in order.

hopefully they'll let all of the orders go through, then the dealer stock will be a 50/50 split.

I just read the order guide and saw the "suggested mix" for Ford dealerships and I believe the bas V6 was 55% followed by the Premium V6 at 13% and the two GT's where about 15% a piece.

Sooooo Not a shocker that the V6 production is bumping some GT production. But if it is a pre-order with a deposit they should give them priority. :notnice:

that stinks for you guys. seems like they would want to build guaranteed money cars first. but i guess for FOMOCO it doesnt really matter since they sell the cars to the dealers anyway. ford is still making a sale nomatter what they build first. its just the dealers get shafted along with us. though its not like the new car is going to sit

My wife works at an apartment comlpex. If they have someone that has paid the rent but left early, they do not push to re-rent the apartment. They rent ones that are not spoken for.

Maybe a similar concept with Ford. Since they have the order already, they will build cars that aren't ordered to get more sales in the very beginning.

This is probably exactly why an order will get bumped. The only person you have an agreement with in principle is the dealership. Ford manufactures and sells the car directly to the dealer. It is the dealers responsilibity to make sure he orders enough cars and the right cars to cover his pre-orders.

This would seem pretty logical... This is also why I will not pre-order my Stang. Beyond that those of us w/o discounts will likely pay MSRP or very close too it. I'm waiting until about July or possibly December of 05 to buy mine... By then hopefully the kinks are worked out (a few less recalls) and some better features are offered as well as addition refinement. It'll drive me crazy but I'll live :bang:

Guys,
Any idea when I will get my GT if I place the order tomorrow.
I am planning to get a Black GT with Security options, IUP and most likely the optional wheels.
Any help would be appreciated.

No idea on when you would get your order. Possibly in November, but then again I ordered mine in May and still no VIN or build date.

It does stink, but it is more of a commodity issue than anything else. Ford has somewhat pre-determined haw many V6, V8 motors they'll build, how many auto's, etc.. they'll build. If they run out of V8's for that particular production week the will schedule V6's. They are almost most two completely different schedules, so you're not actually being "bumped" for the V6, it's just that the "line" for the GT is a little longer.

Yeah, if you look at the order guide, it states what percentage will be GT, V6, premium, etc..

I can kind of understand why they are doing it. If they only build ordered ones first, there'll be some on the street, but none in the showroom. They need stock on the showroom to stink in traffic to the dealerships. We'll see. I'm hoping to order mine at the end of this month, and don't expect delivery until end of November to December time frame.

The V6's might not be sold off the assembly line but they won't be on the lot more than a day.

This is basically correct. If Ford pre plans a certain number of V6 and GTs but everyone orders GTs, it's going to take longer to get yours. And they won't just let the V6s just sit there. They build them whether we like it or not.
