Is GT demand finally going down?

The markups are just from Greedy dealers and not necessarily due to inventory. The local dealer always has V6's and GT's on the lot and they have yet to sell 1 at or above MSRP. They accept x-plan without even complaining about it and mark the cars down no different than anything else on the lot. Personally I think the markups really depend on the area you live in. If the dealers allocation is low, then yes, the markups might be pretty high, especially if the car is that popular. Heck, 2 more GT's showed up last week, Performance white and a Black GT both with 18" fan blades and a Black pony package.

I bought from a high allocation dealer (Galpin Ford). But they still said if I wanted to buy my car I had to buy $3000.00 worth of wheels.
I will never buy from them again. I think allot of dealers have created ill will among some of their better customers. I think it high time Ford took a look at their dealers business practices. Every time a dealer reams a customer it makes Ford look bad.

Adrenalin, you hit it on the head. It's all due to allocation. In my region Mid-Atlantic Philadelpia), there are pretty much no GT's, and if a dealer has any it's only 1, and it's an automatic. At my dealership, we haven't had 1 GT for stock yet, and we have 5 orders still in the system, (mine included ). The 5-speeds are being a hard thinig to get. The 2 that are coming in for customers, are both autos, hence why they scheduled quick. Now in other regions, I am sure GT's are more prevelant.

I hope if the rush of buying the new mustang lowers, that the dealerships with stop the "market adjustment" crap. Maybe they will begin to reasonable price used ones as well. I saw a 05 black GT for 29K when they had a 06 for the same price. (THey both had almost the same options, the 05 had ICAP but not the other). In the future, if the mustang is pulled from production I think it would be from cost increases. As always, Ford increases price for the cars, however, offer rebaits toward year end. When the car is popular there are not any rebates. It is a good buisness policy, but each increase of price decreases the amount of people that can afford it. To me cost increase is one of several things that caused the Firebird and Camero to die.

I know down here in Louisiana I pass by a Ford dealership with GT's on the lot that have been there for weeks. There's a real nice '06 sonic Blue with fanblades I catch myself drueling over. I know they don't have hurricane damage, because they arrived a couple weeks after the storm. But down here, I can imagine it may be hard to sell a $30k car with many people struggling. I know that there had been a couple '05 GT's sitting on the lot for a while before the storm too though.

The Ford dealer near me has several GT's and a row of V6's, all sitting there for weeks. They have a nice red GT with the side scoops, rear louvers and custom wheels, they've had it all summer....due to the mark-up on it. I'm positive they don't want to sell it, but rather have it sitting pretty on the front display to attract passersby. I don't think they are really price-gouging, I think they are using it as bait to get people to stop....cause if they sold it (before they got these extra GT's) they wouldn't have a flashy car out front. Now it's pushing winter here in MN, so even if they lower the price, they probably couldn't sell it. It'll be snowing in 2-3 weeks anyway! Consider gas prices and the weather we're getting ready for, very few people will be buying Mustangs. If you want a deal, start calling Minnesota dealers!

1 local dealer has 3 gt's (at least one modded(louvers, rims, stripes) and 6+ more V6's, most with rims and other add ons
and another local dealer had at one point 12 v6's, not sure how many now, but they also have had a couple gt's in and out
