so what are you going to do about that low carpet line in the footwells? As soon as your friends see that you may be burned at the stake.

Maybe you realize that nothing is perfect and the mustang is a heck of a value for what you get.

H_NGT - I just noticed the dates in your sig. Did it really take 4 WEEKS for the car to get to your local mixing lot?!?!? Was it really built the week of 3/5? I'm just trying to guestimate just how far out my poor car will be...

Well, looks like I won't have to worry about that for a while yet (but thanks for the smarta$$ remark nonetheless). Car came in, but not with the interior I ordered; charcoal seats instead of red.

The combination of features I want are now creating a problem, since my dealer only has one GT order slot left for '07 and some of the features I want are suddenly on "commodity control" as they get ready for '08. The options are for him to have another dealer see if they can order it - then do a trade with that dealer to bring it in - or wait for '08, which means Redfire is gone.

Worst comes to worst, he has offered to swap the red interior from another GT on the lot with the car that came in today. He said it's easy enough to do, but will cost them money and the codes won't match up. If it comes to that, I may seriously consider waiting for the Bullitt.

REALLY sorry to hear of the mix up! Wait if you have to, get it exactly the way you want it, you'll be happier.

No question about it.

By the way, I looked at the Mobile Ease function. It seems to work well enough, but the bozos mount it over on the passenger side of the dash. How asinine is that?

ah dang, this really sucks that your car finally gets here and it isn't what you ordered. Hopefully your dealer can work somthing out to get you the correct car.

Or if not bullitt would be a great choice.

Yeah, it's disappointing, but there are a lot more serious issues in life to get bent about.

It's all good. If they can make it happen, great. If not, I'll be keeping my eye on the Bullitt.

And then I'll get illuminated cupholders and "ambient lighting."

Maybe this is your sign to wait for the Bullitt.

So they ordered the car wrong?

They could probably order the red door inserts and new seat skins. If you're going to mod it anyway it shouldn't be a big deal as you don't plan on putting it in a bubble. They could always upfit another cloth GT and put an ADM on it to get the $ back later. That wouldn't be out of the relm of something our dealer would do(some of the comp's I've heard are insane, but that's not bad). We have a guy at the dealer that does the interior/electronic stuff and he replaces factory seat skins all the time for defects or repairs, its not rocket science. They could swap that stuff in a day. I could see skipping AAT as it really does nothing or mobile ease as its an added accessory, but not the seat color I wanted.

Well, as I mentioned, he has two other GTs on the lot, both with red interiors. He told me himself that worst case scenario, he could swap the seats and door panels from one of those cars into the car that came in for me last night, and that it's a straightforward operation - just a bit time consuming and costly for them. I gather it's just a matter of undoing the wiring harness and some bolts, and bingo, out it comes.

If they could do it in such a way that I would never have known the difference, I'd be all for it. My concern is them inadvertently scratching, ripping, tearing, or marking someting up in the interior in the process.

Either way, apparently it does muck things up for them down the road because he claims they can't really sell the "donor" vehicle as a new car after such a swap, because the codes no longer match. I believe that's what he said, or words to that effect.

We would never swap them out from another car, no way no how. You don't 'violate' a new car to fix another one. They are all independent cost 'entities' from one another.

Nothing should get scratched, our guys are fantastic My new car came in with a bad wiper motor, I didn't think twice about one of techs possibly scratching something, I just knew it would be fixed properly. Switching the skins is not hard at all for a pro. They probably have an outsourced specialist already, we have leather repair, windshield, paintless dent removal, bumper/scratch repair, stereo/electronic/moonroof, and winshield and leak and squeak specialists we call. We even have a girl that does nothing but fix stains/cigg burns in upholstery.

On my prior GT's, when the seat bases showed wear, I would simply order new leather for the base and get a new seat skin, I have no idea why people let something like the seat get so worn. The leather is just another part.

I'd let them swap out the leather. Like Kevin says, no big deal. If it costs them more $$$ to do so that is your problem how? Also, if they are going to go to that much trouble I'm sure that they will do it so that they don't damage anything else.

IMHO not worth waiting another 8 weeks? 12 weeks? 6 months? for a car that STILL might not be correct. Your car is there. Go get it.

Have you been to the dealer to look at the car? Maybe you'll like the combo once you see it in person.
