I just purchased a new 05 which was built after Jan. 05. Wondering if anyone knows a way to reactivate global windows on later production cars. My fiancee's has it, and I really like this feature. No flames from those who don't think it is important, please!
Has anyone been able to activate it on later production cars? Can an older (salvage?) computer be retrofitted? The ends may not justify the means; just trying to see if anyone has any answers.

Hey Barrett, if you go on the 2005-2008 main page, and search global windows, (I believe thats the area where its at) there is a many page post in regards to this. Now, if you car was built after Jan 2005, alot of other owners weren't able to have the feature re-programmed to the car. Here at my dealer where I work, one of the tech's tried to add it, and it didn't work. I believe Ford used a different program that made the computer unable to re-add this feature. Plus, the big reason why it was dropped, some owners cars, their windows would just go down inadvertinelly. Not a good thing to possibly happen especially if it may rain, when the windows suddenly go down my themselves. To be honest, I really liked this feature too, but it there was a possible issue (and there was) it's better that they disconnected this feature. I know I wouldn't want my windows going down. In fact the part that is different on the car with global open or without is the smart junction box. The function is removed on later builds after Jan 05 and cannot be reactivated even if you replaced this box as they are revised to the current spec. The one possibility would be to pick up a sjb from a pre jan 05 wreck and install and go to dealer and have this function enabled if it was not working . We have tryed to enable this function on 06 verts however due to the revised hardware it does not work.

moving this over to the issues section where the other topics are regarding the global windows, discussions of fixing issues and trying to unlock the feature on cars it was disabled on.

Pacettr,
I agree with you..The glogal window feature is great..especialy here in southern cailf on hot summer days..

But I can tell you from first hand experience, that when it goes bad It really goes Bad!!! I was kind of lucky though..It had stopped raining the night before mine went nuts I'm going to keep this feature active in my car for 2 reasons..1 I love it!! and 2 It's a feature that came in this car, It's the only thing that sets this very first run of Mustangs apart from the rest..Makes them kind of unique...
My main point to you is..If you are able to get them to work and something goes wrong with it, it will come out of your pocket to get it fixed..Mine is Warranty work,Yours wont be!! Just something to think about
