27 mpg highway! This new Mustang GT V8 is comparable to and maybe better than my 96 Dodge Stratus V6 and much better mpg than my Ford Powerstroke diesel F-250 which gets up to 21 mpg highway. That is incredible mileage for a gas V8 with over 300hp. My cousin bought a Dodge 1500 Hemi with 345 hp and he said it only gets about 8-12 mpg but that it really moves out.

The Mustang GT V8 mpg would be comparable to a Jetta gasser but not the TDI Jetta, which gets up to 45 (auto) or 50 (manual) mpg.

For such an interesting topic, I am amazed at how little I care about it. I mean the estimates that are coming are great for a 300hp car, but I'm pretty sure gas prices will continue rising for a while.
I don't see that stopping anyone in here from getting this car. That is awesome!!

Yeah, I think I might keep my focus when I get my new mustang for that reason...I get 30 miles to the gallon and make 120 mile round trip to work everyday...I am spending like $60/week on gas :bang: and it is killing me!

Yep! Keep your Focus for work !!
You will need that front wheel drive for the winter anyway.

Many moons ago, I didn't have the money for a winter beater, so I had to drive my nice 87 GT during a few winters. What a freak'in nightmare. Thank God I never wrecked it !!

I am glad I never had to drive my 2001 GT in the snow ! I bought a 4x4 Explorer for that !!

Me too. The Explorers are nice for the winter.

Also, if you are worried about gas mileage, ride a motorcycle when you aren't driving the Stang!
