A good friend of mine ordered his 05 mustang this week. He is getting one of the first two that this dealership is recieving. The other one is going to the dealer's son (must be nice). Anyways, he ordered a Black GT, with red leather seats, shaker 500, aluminum trim, and the 17" concept style wheels. He wanted to get silver stripes but black, white, and tan where all that were available. I haven't studied the order guide that close, but why in the world would they offer tan stripes. Am I the only one that thinks that is just insane? Anyways, I think the coolest part is that he wasn't even required to put down any money. And yes this is legit and he is going to recieve the car. I 'll let everyone know if he gets any further info from the dealer.

 

Black white and gold, and they are rocker panel stripes (on the door) not le mans stripes (go over the top)

 

Excuse my ignorance, but aren't the sidestripes only for V6 models, not GT?

 

I think so, but I honestly havn't read the options guide V6 stuff that close.

 

I'm probably going in next week and ordering mine. I know they'll try to sell me the 2004, which I'm not too fond of that body, but hey, they're just trying to get a sale, can't blame em. (As long as they're honest to me)

Yes the stripes are only V6. I didn't notice he was ordering a GT, I didn't read the options he listed.

But he didn't order the stripes because they didn't have the color, so its not a problem.

 

I went saturday and asked the salesman if he was taking orders for the 05 and he said "he could"?!? then immediately tried to sell me an 04! I said no thanks but they'll sell, since no more are being made. He said that's right, and asked if my 01 silver v6 vert was paid off. I said it will be by Jan when I get my 05 gt.

 

Thanks Grantsdale. I was unclear on the stripe situation. I'm just wondering which delearships hear in Alabama are going to get the allocated cars first. I'll make sure to post the pcis of his new stang (man this is gonna be a long wait).

 

Maybe I'm missing something..........if he ordered a GT, why are you guys talking about stripes??? There are no stripes being offered. :scratch:

 

 

Anybody can order anything, if they wanna pay for it. Probably the dealer's hookin' him up with the stripes "after delivery style." Like I'll be doin' with mine when I order it:

ME: Ok, GT, but gimme a V6 grille swap. Otherwise, no deal.

THEM: Uh, ok, but that'll cost ya $xxx.xx

ME (answer A): Ok, that's reasonable. Tell me when it gets here and the grille's in. (At that point, shake hands, etc...)

ME (answer B [stupid emoticons!] ): Dude. Totally uncool, that's too much. How 'bout you just get me one and *I'll* do it for ya.

THEM: Ok, the grille's $yyy.yy extra.

ME (answer C): Ok, that's reasonable. Tell me when it gets here and the grille's in. (At that point, shake hands, etc...)

ME (answer D): Geez, guys, are we tryin' to not deal here? Ok, tell you what. Find somebody who wants a V6 with the GT lamps, and me and him will do it on the sly. At my office or something. I can do that. Just find me the guy/girl.

THEM: Sure. Ok! (as they think "As if...")

Hmm... Havin' said all that, it occurs to me that I'll prolly just have to deal with it after I buy the thing. Ah well, that's ok.

But, as I says, anything can be had for $$$. Just how much is the question...
