MMFF will get the best times, Pontiac mags said they where faster than Mach 1 of course then they admitted they could not drive it as good as needed to be and they even even cooled the GTO intake and didnt do anything to the Mach but run the crap out of it.

I'd sleep for like 10 months when I can buy the car But sadly I will have to wait it out.

What mag do you think should come up with the results first? I'm going with MT

I say Road & Track! Not counting the MM&FF, and 5.0 magazines.
R&T has never even mentioned the cars existance. They have covered ad-nauseum every future piece of poo saab though, a car that sells only 2 per county. [/b][/quote]
actually they did a ltile piece about the evolution of the mustang and a small blurb abot the 05 in the May 04 issue.

i say Mustang Enthusiast

Whoa, no Mini hate up in this piece. I'd gladly own a loaded CVT Mini in a heartbeat.

(Blue with Union Jack top, aw yeah)
We had a few in here, I drove them, was hugely dissapointed.

I absolutely can't wait for the road tests by the mags. Forget that....I can't wait till I conduct my very own road test.

The day I buy it, I'm taking it out to the racetrack, and testing it's 1/4 mile, and it's top speed.

You should put at least 500 miles on the engine before racing it.

:nono: That's not good for the car at all. Definately needs to be put though a break-in period so that all the seals, parts can seat properly.

I'm sure there will be many threads on break-in procedure in a few months. Some might say keep it below a certain rpm, others argue that you have to use the whole rpm range gently.

You will mess your car up, if you race it the first day.

From my experience......it has always been stay 50mph and below for the first 500 miles.

Others will say different, but just enjoy the ride the first couple weeks anyway.

Never knew that... thanks for the info...

I'll probably just drive it to work for the first week, that'll get it about 500 miles right there... hehe... and about 3 trips to the gas station!

But I go like 80-90 on the way to work, so I can't stay in the 50 mph range. Or I'll let my wife drive it, and I'll drive her car... :bang:

Below 50 isn't set in stone......it just takes a lot of stress off the engine.

For awhile I'll just be driving it around the Parish... (I live in Louisiana, we have Parishes, not Counties) ...untill I feel it's ready for highway. I'll do one gas tank with city, then I'll start driving it to work. I just talked to someone on AIM about it, he said that's what I should do.

It doesn't depend on speed but rpm. The engine doesn't care if you are going 10mph or 100mph if you are revving at 2000rpm.

Most important thing is not to abuse the car by mashing the gas and redlining it or doing burnouts / putting a lot of stress on the engine.

From what I've read, you should keep rpm below 2-3k. IMO, I think you may want to gently leave it in gear a bit longer occassionally and let it rev to 4-6k just to "exercise" the car though the rpm range. This would be slowly though while moderately increasing speed (not heavy acceleration).

Exactly. As long as you take your time getting up to speed you will be fine. I would actually recommend taking it on your normal route, because thats what it has to get used to anyway.

Engines are different today break in periods are different most engine builders will tell you if she going to blow she going to blow. Cars used to use oil at first until they broke in, now new cars cannot burn any oil during break in , oil burning damages pollution control devices, stops up converters, also tolerance are closer so engines last longer

I agree with your point, most cars nowadays need very little break in. Many manufacturers recommend what to do to break the car in after you buy the car.

However, SOME break in won't hurt and might help avoid problems in the future. For a few hundred miles, what does it hurt to baby the car.

I met a guy once that "broke in" his '03 Cobra by driving it sideways down the street in front of the dealer lot, and had it to 130 mph a mile later (on the freeway). Hahaha...

I've heard that rings and such on modern engines seat almost immediately, and no real break in period is required. And I seem to remember hearing a rumor once that Ford had a "break-in" procedure at the factory anyway, running new engines on stands as part of the production process. Could be wrong on that one, of course...

I got into a discussion with someone on another forum, who claims that "the harder you run any engine when it is new the stronger it will be." I politely told him about my friend's 67 camaro which is on it's 3rd engine in 3 years. He feels that way too.
