Fading front window trim

My front window trim is starting to fade and turn blotchy. If I use some Armor All or Back to Black it covers it up but i noticed that I can scratch it off with my fingernail. Anyone have this problem? I'm thinking of taking some steel wool and rubbing it, then putting some back to black on it. I wonder if that will fix it.

I use Vinylex for the interior, exterior, and under the hood. I'd recommend this over other products.

Vinylex Protectant cleans, protects and maintains all your vinyl, plastic and rubber in one simple step.

Its patented formula penetrates beneath the surface to:

•Lift away dirt and grime
•Fight discoloration
•Prevent drying and cracking
•Filter out harmful ultraviolet rays
•Protect against weather damage

How it works:

•A patented Alkanolamine cleansing system lifts and cleans away dirt and grime. It also reduces browning and discoloring on tires.
•A patented low-density silicone composition is designed to keep cracks from forming by combining two silicones of different molecular sizes: larger molecules to protect and beautify surfaces and smaller molecules to penetrate and revitalize underlying plasticizers.
•A DH-60 UV sunscreen that filters out harmful ultraviolet rays, further protecting surfaces from dulling and cracking.
