honking the horn when I double lock it. This all started about two or three days ago. I have not done anything to my car recently (6 weeks or more since I opened the hood. Sigh), so I don't think it is anything I did.

Has anyone else had the factory alarm just quit working? Everything else is working perfectly (blinkers, flashers, horn, etc.). Any ideas if there are any easy trouble shooting I can do before I have to take it in for service? I hate being without my car!

Stupid question, but you ARE positive your remote is working, right? If all else works, it might be the lack of signal.

Actually, I THINK I fixed the problem. But it doesn't make any sense!

About five weeks ago or so was the last time I was working under the hood. I removed the hood sensor (unbolted the bracket, but not disconnected it) to give me room for work installing my driving lights (in place of the stock fogs). Last night, I pulled out the service DVD and found the trouble shooting seciton. One item was checking fuses 4 and 7 in the main fuse box, so I went out into the garage and opened it up to check those fuses. The fuses were fine and that was when I noticed the still unmounted bracket.

After remounting the switch, I gave it a quick test. The horn was sounding for the arm (double press of remote), but the lights were not still not flashing (very easy to see when the car is parked in my garage!). I figured I would have to take it in so they could hook the analyzer up to it.

Well, today at lunch, I happened to notice that the horn AND the lights worked when I armed it. I tested it several times in a row and everything worked the way it always did. Strange. It was still working when I got back from lunch, so I am going to call it fixed for now.

I still feel stupid forgeting to reinstall the hood alarm switch! And I have no IDEA how this fixed the problem either. It has been at least 5 weeks since that switch was mounted were it would work and I know that the lights were working at late as last weekend. Oh well. If it keeps working, I will be happy.

Oh, and to offically answer your question, yes the remote does work. You can clearly lock and unlock the doors with it from at least 50 feet away. Beyond that is pushing it...
