Driver side seat belt fraying...

Noticed as of lately that my driver side seatbelt does not move as "free" as it used to/the passenger side one does. I decided to take a look at it and noticed that the edges of the seatbelt are frayed around where it sits against the guide while I am driving.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how much of a pain is it to replace?

Thanks!

Yes this has happened to me too. I have thought about replacing my belts entirely with better quality belts. After buying a second car which has a significantly better interior feel to it (part of which is the seatbelts and the sunvisors I've thought about replacing each to a better piece with a more substantial feel to them. I don't know if anyone has seen replacement pieces out there but I would be interested in this as well. I'll probably hit up google later to find out. I sometimes wonder if I should just upgrade to a 2013 gt to get an all around better car sometimes rather than upgrade my existing one, but its hard to justify A car payment when this one is paid off and my secondary vehicle :/

I'm in the same boat as you. This car is my second/fun car and is all paid off. As much as I love the 2013 GT, there is something about my current one which holds a place in my heart.

in my 05 manual, theres special procedures to de activate and re-activate the srs system and to replace any of the parts and a bunch of serious precautions on the retractor or pretensioner which has a pyrotechnic device. never probe a pretensioner.

with that said, they get replaced after accidents, not sure what they would cost, but i dont think you can mix match different belt assemblies with the system. mine has a little fray to it too. heres a seat belt place
