Water Pump is Bad....Replacement?

So I looked on ford parts and their pump is like $220. That seems obsurd when I can get one from autozone for $60. Is there any difference at all between them?

You could always look into getting a meziere water pump. That is an electric water pump and it actually frees up about 10 horsepower as it operates under the same principle of under drive pulleys. It is slightly more expensive at ~$300-350 but if your into modding it could be an easy way to kick it up a notch. There are plenty of threads on many forums detailing the install...

Edelbrock makes one as well but its a belt driven pump (although you would have to determine if you have a long or short pump)

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...igh_perf.shtml

163.00 bucks from Jegs (162.00 at Summit) and if such things matter, most likely made in the US at Edelbrocks own foundry.

You will more than likely make a mess spilling coolant out. Have not done one on the S197, but typically they are a DIY'er kind of job.

So I'm happy with its credentials considering I need it right away. Going to try the install this afternoon. Going to grab a big bucket for draining in an attempt to not make a mess lol.

So got it in with some help from a buddy of mine. They pulley was seized to the pump so we had to take the whole assembly off together. Sprayed some wd 40 on it, let it sit then knocked it on the ground and it finally popped off. Also as a heads up for anyone else doing this, the hose clamps are a huge pain in the *** to get back on, especially the big one on the bottom of the pump. Lots of tension to get it to open wide enough....All in all not too bad though and it works great.
