Hmmm nice idea. I need to come up with a similar thing but mind has to cover more of the side. My car unfortunately will be in the driveway with 2 satan's minions (kids) running around the car!!

Nice work, Jeff! Now I just need to figure out how to get two of them (one for each side) to work with me each day...

I came up with this to keep the wife and kids from nailing me in the garage when she parks next to me ...

Too bad it won't fit in the truck for road trips ...
Nice Jeff,

If you just lop off about 6" of height, you could sell millions! Some of those low slung door swingers might sneek under it otherwise.

Very innovative work there, Jeff! Perhaps you could create a collapsible version that folds up and can be stowed in the trunk. Who knows? It could be the next greatest invention! How about inflatable pillows that have a magnetic strip that holds them in place? Worth a shot, no? You could pitch the idea at a car show, where most guys would buy anything that would protect their investment.

I can tell you love your car!

i like dans idea. but i think when im in a parking lot im gonna take down the plates of the cars when i am goin in just incase they ding it and dont leave a sorry note
Thanks greg. Writing licence plates seems like quite a bit of work.....though, it'll help track the guy who left you the ding. I prefer to park away from other cars.

I'd love to double park, but I'm afraid that will **** someone off enough to key my car ("you think your car is so great it deserves two parking spots" sort of thing)

Also, I'd love to have a lift in the future. I think you can get one for between $3000-$5000?

I wonder how much those lifts cost. If you were going to build a new garage it might be cost effective vs a bigger structure.

I’m employing a bouncer to guard my car when ever I’m away.

Hey Ryan, are you going to post pictures of your car? Your sig says you got it Friday. I checked your posts, but found no pix. What are your impressions of the car?

With all the positive feedback that I have received, I have been working on a improved version, which will be marketed as the Protector II series.

It will retract under the car when not in use. With a push button switch, mounted on the dash, it will extend out automatically. The Protector II series will have optional drivers door protection too. Pictures to follow soon.

If you would like to be the first in your neighborhood with a Protector II, leave me a post...

This is a limited offer...

Yeah, that's the ticket. It could work using the same principle as those inflatable life vests you get on airliners.

Yeah, I have pictures on my digital camera at home. I was not home most of the weekend (due in part to the car, and friends coming in this weekend from out of town) so I didn't have time to post them. I'm at work all day, maybe tonight or tomorrow morning I will post them. Depends how busy I am when I get home tonight.

Good idea! I was thinking motion-activated flamethrowers, but there might be legal issues...

What do you think?

I don't agree. Accidents happen. Even I have had a door get away from me and hit another (and I am super careful). If the bumper saves one ding it was worth it. It would make my wife more comfortable. She accidentally spilled a pepsi in my last Mustang. She started crying. Not because she was "afraid" of what I would think, but, because she knew how much the car meant to me and it made her feel bad. Pepsi cleans up, dents are hard to fix.
yes i would have to agree with this. especially since something similar to this had already happened to me. it's never a question of whether the other person would intentionally do it or not be careful enough, even. but accidents do happen. so i say a protector for your door would be the wisest solution.
