Hmmm nice idea. I need to come up with a similar thing but mind has to cover more of the side. My car unfortunately will be in the driveway with 2 satan's minions (kids) running around the car!!

If you just lop off about 6" of height, you could sell millions! Some of those low slung door swingers might sneek under it otherwise.

 

Very innovative work there, Jeff! Perhaps you could create a collapsible version that folds up and can be stowed in the trunk. Who knows? It could be the next greatest invention! How about inflatable pillows that have a magnetic strip that holds them in place? Worth a shot, no? You could pitch the idea at a car show, where most guys would buy anything that would protect their investment.

Thanks greg. Writing licence plates seems like quite a bit of work.....though, it'll help track the guy who left you the ding. I prefer to park away from other cars.

I'd love to double park, but I'm afraid that will **** someone off enough to key my car ("you think your car is so great it deserves two parking spots" sort of thing)

Also, I'd love to have a lift in the future. I think you can get one for between $3000-$5000?

 

I wonder how much those lifts cost. If you were going to build a new garage it might be cost effective vs a bigger structure.

With all the positive feedback that I have received, I have been working on a improved version, which will be marketed as the Protector II series.

It will retract under the car when not in use. With a push button switch, mounted on the dash, it will extend out automatically. The Protector II series will have optional drivers door protection too. Pictures to follow soon.

Yeah, I have pictures on my digital camera at home. I was not home most of the weekend (due in part to the car, and friends coming in this weekend from out of town) so I didn't have time to post them. I'm at work all day, maybe tonight or tomorrow morning I will post them. Depends how busy I am when I get home tonight.

yes i would have to agree with this. especially since something similar to this had already happened to me. it's never a question of whether the other person would intentionally do it or not be careful enough, even. but accidents do happen. so i say a protector for your door would be the wisest solution.
