Are you talking about the old Boxster or the new one?? The '04 Boxster has 258 hp, the '05 has 280.

Edit: He already has an S2000, why would he want a second one?

I am sorry to see someone go with the TSX over the Stang, however, being treated the way he was at dealerships, AND by some people here, I dont blame the guy.

My only issue was "cheap interior". Reliability can be debated for years. The interior is good quality for the class of car it is in. No, my behind is not resting on italian calf leather, nor does my dash have burled walnut. The quality is surpasses initial impressions for sure. When I saw the pics, I was a tad concerned, it did look kinda cheesy in the pics. But, once I got to sit in one, it was a whole other story.

Overall, its your cash, you bought what you felt was worth the money, and I am sure you are very happy with it.

Oh, and, just because you didnt buy a Stang, doesnt mean youre not welcome to hang out and talk about 'em.

Lord no. A two seater would kill me right now. If I buy a Porsche is going to be a turbo. There are just so many people around here that have Boxter S’s, because of my area everyone who’s not as wealthy as the average person here wants status of a Porsche, so they buy those.

Just save your money and buy something useful maybe then they could have a nicer house, or invest in the stock market. Sounds shallow but it’s a stupid buy. You come out looking ok short term but you could be driving a turbo in the long term, if you were smart.
I doubt you have seen "so many people" that have the new Boxster S since it just came out a few weeks ago so I assume you're referring to the previous generation 986 Boxster. The new 987 Boxster is light years above and beyond the previous model. It shares 80% of its components with the 911 and in some ways its even better than the 911. Where as the 986 Boxster was known as the poor man's Porsche, the new 987 is a real competitor.

I already have a nice house and have several investments. I want to have some toys for the garage and driveway.

I visited 5 Ford dealerships. Bought my 05 gt and an Expedition last year and both purchases were awful. These dealerships need to get better salesman and show more respect to their buyers.

I like both of my Ford vehicles, however the dealerships make the experience dreadful.
One dealer insulted me by saying... "Oh you're here to trade that POS Japanese car for a real sports car?" I replied, "No I'm keeping that POS S2000," that shook my head. His face turned red.

Another dealer saw my M3 and claimed "The new Mustang GT is much better than that overpriced German wannabe out there in the parking lot." I replied, "Are you referring to my M3 outside, yea I bet."

Why not the TL? IMO, it's a better car and a better deal. 270 hp, 6 spd manual, 4-doors, more room.
270HP + FWD = Lots of Torque Steer. I drove it, great car but the torque steer destroys it.

Have to disagree. The car keeps torque steer under control, and it's a MUCH nicer
car than the TSX. 6 cyl instead of the 4 in the TSX. Nicer interior. The audio system alone is worth it.

If you're worried about torque steer, buying a car with a weaker engine is no excuse. Just a question of how you drive it.
The balance isn't right on the TL. THe rumor is that Honda is moving the TL to the SH-AWD platform next model year which will fix this.

Excuse me; what did you say your name was?

"It's Mav.."

It doesn't matter what your name is!

You think you can show up on The Mustang Source and run your mouth about your (cough) Acura TSX. Well, you can take that TSX, lube it up nice, turn that son of a b*#*# sideways and stick it up your candy A#*!

If you smeeeell what GT300 is cooking!

P.S. See you in my rearview mirror.
Hey I didn't know Joe is the Rock's real name? Can I have your autograph Mr. Rock?

With so many negative things to say about the product (e.g. cheap interior, reliability concerns) it makes one wonder why you ever considered a Mustang in the first place. Not to mention that it can be taken as an insult to all of the proud 05 Mustang owners on the forums. I know I'm a nOOb but I agree that you could have told us about the experience without trash talking the vehicle that we've come to love.. :nono:

Be sure to come back and post pics of your new Acura once it's equipped with fart can and race stickers

[/quote]

Well if you read it right I said that my fiancee dislikes the car because of its cheap interior. I never said I disliked it because of the interior. In fact, I think the interior is fine for its price range. As for the long term relability comment, yes its a concern for me. This would have been my first domestic car and a first year model is always plaqued with problems. I had a first year 2001 M3 that spent 3 months at the dealer for various repairs. I sold it after a year.

And no, it will not have a fart can or stickers. I don't rice out my cars as other import owners tragically do to theirs.

Those that had positive or constructive comments, thank you. My only point is to show you Mustang fans that the dealers are jerk offs not to come here and gloat. If I was given the opportunity to test drive one, I would probably have one on order right now instead of the TSX sitting in my driveway. But I don't regret my decision.

After 32 years of new vehicle purchases I have earned the right to say most very dealership will dissatisfy you in some way.

Tom
Seeing how you own imports I do not see you really liking a domestic pony car. Maybe you did need something different. The times I have intertained the imports, Audi A-6, Jaguar S and Lexus ES 300, I found them all to high on their horse to deal reasonable and cheap on test drives.

If one only walks into a dealship and right away, asks to test drive something like the new GT, well that is a red flag to the salesmen, as only a joy rider, so they make it hard. First you need to look a lot at various vehicles show some interest in GT. Ask for a brochure, get the salesman card and leave. Go back in few days and let the salesman know you are ready to purchase a new vehicle. Talk serious prices on what you are interested in. Once they feel you are a customer they will offer a test drive of the vehicle. It has worked very time for me. No one will or should ever buy a new car without a test drive, they know that.

I can see going for the comfort of a sporty sedan. If dealers did not except the factory plans on GT's, we were going to purchase a Mercury Montego premier, 18" wheels, very nice roomy 4-door sedan.

I was unaware there was a new one out. I'm sure if I keep on the look out I’ll see 5 on the way home tonight, you don't know my area. As for "a real competitor," according to the stats I pulled off the net (correct me if they are wrong) the car is "0-62 in 5.5s, BHP 280 / 6200 priced at $54,000. I'm going to have to say, it's still a horrible car.

I just don't see what is so cheap about the Mustang's interior, especially the IUP. What do you want, stupid fake wood or gold trim? It's a muscle car! And I am buying it MORE for the interior, that is what sold me!!! Funny he picked a 4 door sedan too after stating what he was looking for. I wanted my next car to be fun, I was considering the Mazda 6 until I saw the new Mustang, and no four door can be more fun than this new Stang. As for first year of the model problems? I just don't see it happening, I have read volumes and volumes on this '05 and haven't read much, if any complaints.

Well that Acura looks way too.... generic for me - but if it makes him happy, more power to him. Seriously.

Disappointed he didn't join the '05 herd - but I will also say that from what I have heard over the past few months about the local Ford dealerships around me here in South Florida is also disappointing to say the least (in a majority of cases). How was your experience at World Ford in Pembroke Pines? (if you went) I bought my Escort there short of five years ago - loved the car and my salesman was cool - but the service department? I'll just leave it at saying a big steaming pile of ^@&%#^@#@. Never going back there....

Luckily, I had a connection at Glades Ford in Belle Glade for an hour north of me which is why I didn't get the run around or deal with the rediculous saleman BS and markups I have heard so much about....

Enjoy your new car.

first off.... congratulations Mav. I went through something like that myself. bought a new 2001 ford ranger XLT loaded in 2001. Wife bought a new 2004 mustang. Both vehicles were purchased from the same dealership, and the same salseman. When the 05's arrived the same salseman and I sat in one. He never even asked if I would like to take it out for a test drive. He said they were only making so many of them, they were limited and no test drives.

I laughed! Then who comes along, but the sales manager. He asked if I was going to take the 05 for a spin. I told him no, your salseman never even asked and seems to think they're rare; and if the car is that rare you can keep it. I also informed him [salse manager] that not only could he keep it, but I would be purchasing a new 06 mustang, or SE, but from a different dealership.

I wish you could have seen the look on his face. Since that has happened they have tried to lure me back in everyway imaginable. NO THANKS! I will still buy the 06 or a SE. But from someone else.

People pick on that because everything is so stunning, not to say the interior isn’t. The curves on the outside seem to satisfy people, so they need to look hard for a fault, normally because they don't have the car and want to justify not buying it.

I'm having the same problem Mav had - not one dealer around Pittsburgh will give me a test drive without all but purchasing the car.

I've kept in contact with many dealers all over the area and no one will cough up a test drive. Sorry - but there is no way I'm spending my hard earned cash without driving the car first.

I've also taken the TSX out for a spin - and while it is a different animal - it is one sweet ride (being the fastest isn't always important).

I've also stopped by the local Subaru dealer and drove an '05 WRX (loaded) - it retailed for $27.5k and his starting price for negotiations was $24.5....I was very tempted. But I already owned an '02. I sold it last April in anticipation of the new 'Stang GT. I have nothing against WRXs - I just fell in love with the Mustang at the 2004 Auto Show in Pittsburgh.

I'm hanging in there still for a test drive - but I am getting real frustrated and sick of driving my beater car all the time (1994 Geo Tracker). I'm not sure how long I can wait on the GT. If I can't test drive one soon - I too - may go elsewhere.

Altoid, I would have to disagree. He is not finding excuses, he stated his FIANCE didnt like the interior, as she said it looked cheap.

Its not the PRICIEST Interior, c'mon! We can be honest, cant we? This is a $30k car. Like I said, it aint italian calf leather (thats my purse, ) or burled walnut dash, but it is a darn fine interior for the price range of the car.

I love my interior, I love it because its so retro, and yet high tech. The seats are far better than its predecessors, the placement of essential components far superior. But, yes, I know a lot of people to think it looks cheap when looking at the pictures.

These are further justifcations of why my little "spot" in the woods is better than any city. I can work there, but I can't live there.

Mav, sorry to hear about that. Up here where I live, most dealers arestill a freindly bunch. Granted they may not be the most imformed bunch, but getting a test drive is still common place. I still would have went w/ the TL. Congrats on your newest addition.

My point, I don't think it looks cheap. This is a muscle car. Would you really want the interior of a Lexus in it anyway? The interior does not look cheap, especially the IUP, and it is what sold me on the car.

He typed it but didn't say it, she did.
