Hey guys, i got 90k now and am noticing the coolant level is dropping slowly. I dont believe its in the oil or cylinder becaus ei can faintly smell it when the motor is hot after i stop but i cannot find any evidence of coolant. no smoke or residue. It loses the most after i top off the coolant so i am thinking a hose. I just ordered a new upper hose and new hose by the thermostat because i figured i should change both while i have the coolant drained in hopes this would fix the problem. I am thinking that maybe the hose coming out of the overflow could be the culprit but have not been able to really take off the radiator cover to check since we have been getting blizzards every week it seems. but since i smell the antifreeze burn most when i make hard turns i am thinking that the overflow hose is the problem but auto stores dont seem to sell it. guess i have to go to the dealer. any suggestions? tips? advise?

also it takes about a month for the lvel to go from full to halfway between high and low when cold. so the leak is very small

The dealer can run enough pressure into the system so wherever the leak is, it will start pissing coolant and presto there she blows.

im thinking its the overflow tank tube because i can really smell it when i make sharp turns and especially when the tank is full so im thinking during the turn its getting into there and leaking. i got to check first

 

put some pepper in the radiator if it is a small leak.

 

They make a dye you can put into the system, and then inspect the car under a black light for the leak. I used it on my fuel system with some success.
