Cancelling my GT order

There is an old saying "cutting off your nose to spite your face". Getting a g35 instead of a Mustang is worst, you would be better off with a v6 off the lot than that thing. I'd keep my 98 windstar over a g35 if given a choice.

The Infiniti has a 4 year bumper to bumper, and 6 year powertrain warrenty, so I think the long term quality is better than that of the Mustang. A manufacturer will warrenty its car based on how well they think it will hold up.

It just seemed to me that it was a sell-out to a second choice of what you originally wanted. (or thought you wanted) If things have changed that much for you financially for you to get what you really wanted then great.
Ask youself this would you really have been happy with a Mustang GT or a G35 when you originally placed your order.

My point of buying a new car was because I wanted something with a nicer interior, rode smooth, and was quiet. My last car was a 94 GT vert, which I put about 10k into, and thus it was a very powerful car, but was not what I wanted as far as comfort. What drove me to the 05 Mustang was the smoother ride and the better interior.
After 2 months of waiting and hearing nothing but BS from my dealer, I started opening my mind to the fact that there are other cars out there that more of what I was looking for, they just cost more money. This led me to the Infiniti, and as soon as I drove it, I knew it was what I was looking for. I just had to justify the extra money to myself, and going for a second test drive sealed that for me. I am now in a position which I can afford the extra 8-10K for the G35, it will just take me a few months to afford it (which is about the time my Mustang would have supposively come in).
My original plan was to buy the Mustang now, and then in a few years, buy a nicer luxury coupe. This decision just sped up my original plan, which I think will be for the better.

Not sure how old you are or your credit history, but getting a car loan does wonders to your credit score(well as long as you make the payments on time). Something you may want to think about, may help later down the road when you are looking to finance a house. On another note, there are good loan rates to be had, I got mine at 3.75%. You can invest the money you didn't spend on the car at better rates than that. Just a little food for thought.

I test drove the Infinity G35 Sports Coupe and didn't like it. The Mustang GT is a lot better car IMO.
Since it's getting on in the year, maybe you should wait and order an 06 GT? Then you can get some of those 18 inch Fan Blade wheels, and still save money over buying an Infinity G35.
Come on, who can resist a GT with Fan Blades?

The G35 is a great car and you will probably be very happy with it. I currently have a WRX, but I've just never fallen in love with it. So, in shopping for its replacement, I have test driven the G35, the BMW M3, and the Mustang GT.
All are tremendous cars at three different price points, with different pros and cons. As much as my wife wanted me to like the G35 or the M3, they just didn't score that emotional connection that the Mustang did. The Mustang GT has smitten me! I haven't felt this way about a vehicle since I got my Jeep Wrangler 15 years ago. Now that it has the look I love, greatly improved handling, AND the v-8 grunt, there is nothing else on the road that even tempts me. As for the wait, every month extra is extra money going into the mod account.
Only *you* know what will please you. Sounds like you weren't really enthralled with the Mustang in the first place, so getting the G35 is probably a good decision.
Just don't get mad when you get spanked at the stoplights by the '05 GT's! :P

Not sure where you're located, but I would look at another dealer for a car on the lot. Shopping the dealerships for product on the lot gives you a lot more control. When you order, you're at the mercy of dealership and production line delays etc.
I found my car after about a month using Forddirect.com. Cut a deal on the phone with a credit card deposit before the car even actually arrived. They called several days later to let me know the car was in. Picked it up with basically not a hitch. No waiting, no production delays, etc etc. The only thing I settled on was that this car had the upgraded wheels, and I wanted the bullits. This is an easy to overcome issue.
Someone who really wants a Mustang will do what it takes. To me, someone who experiences something like this and wants to cancel the order and buy a G35 coupe was never really in the boat in the first place.
G35 is a nice car, don't get me wrong. If you don't mind less power, less interior space, less popularity, and not belonging to the Mustang group, go for it.
Oh, did I mention the Gs are more $$ also?

Save your pennies and get a Cobra next year
.
Seriously, though, I would not base my car decision on how a particular dealer treated me. Shop around. Any dealer who made you deposit 5k should have been avoided from the beginning. Ouch.

Actually it's not that close, the 350Z is faster than the G35, and the Mustang beats out the Z. I think I read that the G35 does 0-60 around 6 seconds.

Yeah, they are pretty close power/speed wise stock for stock, but the GT would edge it out. I think the extra luxury would make me feel fine with it though![Smile](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Yeah, but .4 sec 0-60 and .6 sec 1/4 mile doesnt really bother me. If it did, I would still be driving my 500rwhp 94 GT.

Wait...can we get back to the real problem? :P If Ford would get their crap straight and build the really old orders and let the new ones sit an extra week, there might nit be such an issue.

And yes, that was the point of this thread, not everyone attacking a car because its not a Mustang.
