Cancelling my GT order
#1
I went to the dealership today, and my order actually managed to move BACK in the queue. I went from 7th on the list to 11th, and this is after already waiting 3 months for the car. All i can say is that its F'in ridiculous. My dealer obviously does not want my business. Three months of waiting down the drain.
I went in to just change my car back to interior upgrade, and after I got that done, I asked about getting some of my 5k deposit back. After he said i could get 4k back, i asked how far back i was in the list. He said 11th, so I asked how I managed to move back from 7th, and he said "um, well, ford is pulling A and Z plans ahead of other orders". Too bad it doesnt work like that. Ford might pull them ahead, but the orders themselves are still lower in the priority queue, meaning that the dealership itself is putting the orders in at a higher priority than me. Also, ford only pulls what is next in queue, unless they stick it at a priority less than 10, meaning its even more bullpoo.

how much were you paying for it? If you were paying MSRP you can find one off the lot for that.

I'm just buying a G35 coupe instead. Its more money, but its definetally worth it.

I'm fed up as well, but not cancelling. I do not understand Ford's logic. They will happily turn a car around in 8 weeks for someone else, but I'm at ~13weeks and still no progress. It is like ford is ASKING/TELLING me to go to a different brand because my order isn't important enough to bother with.
Hey FORD, remove head from backside.

What did you order? GT or V6, options, etc.?

Seems like this is becoming an epidemic. I think I can speak for him when I say that it has nothing to do with us not wanting a Mustang. Clearly we do or we would not have ordered one in the first place. It is the idea of waiting (in my case I have been told May or June) to buy THEIR product. I mean, mustangs are nice cars, I have loved mine, but they are certainly not the only one in the marketplace. Obviously there are some of you that LOVE mustangs, and that is awesome, but a lot of us really like them, but we really like other cars too. It's not like a woman where you only want one specific one.......oops....bad anology.

Haha. They only sell about 30,000 G35 coupes every year in the US, compared to about 100,000 Mustangs. Go test drive one and tell me that it isn't a better all around car (Quality, styling, interior comfort) than the Mustang.

I think a lot of the delays may actually have to do with dealer allocations. Orders don't really go in when dealers tell you

The logic behind allocation makes sense until you can not meet demand or release a new version of a car. Just because my dealership sells mostly trucks, doesn't mean they shouldn't build my car. My order is a sale, why on Earth would Ford not want to fill that order in turn?? It isn't any wonder why Ford is loosing market share.

Don't forget that when the major redesign of the F-150 came out back in the mid 90's there was a 6-8 MONTH wait for these trucks. And this is a model that they sell about 900,000 units a year of.
Since the Mustang is a major redesign and everyone in the world is in love with this car, of course there is going to be a bit of a wait. So I would say that 8-12 weeks isn't that bad. Especially since they have to share the plant with the Mazda6.
If you are a true Mustang lover and want the attention that this car will draw then you will have no problem waiting.
The problem these days is that we are so used to instant gratification. But once you take delivery, every day of your wait time will be worth it.
Also, don't blame your dealers for the wait. They have no real control over how the plant pulls orders to be built.

Oh, and how about this one. When I ordered my car, it said priority 10. When I checked 8 weeks later, I was priority 17. When I checked today, I was priority 41.
PT Cruisers were sold out everywhere and got a lot of attention back when they were released a few years back. Does that mean they are a superior car to everything else?

Clemens9...did you put down a deposit? If so, I am assuming you go it back. I am leaning more towards a red 2001 vette convertible I found.
