Welcome to TMS FutureStangDrvR!

I've noticed a decline in ricers in my area. It's like all of a sudden Jacksonville ran out of green neon paint or some thing!

The negative looks and remarks will come!
But that's human nature.
Most of them were'nt around in the 60s, but I was!
I know what it was like and been waiting for this second
chance forever!
If someone said something about vettes or camaros, I'd
say been there! done that!
It's what you want, not what they think!
Had a coworker ask me if I was going to get another vette.
I said I was getting an 05 Mustang. His 3 word reply made
me smile. THE FAST ONE!
nuff said!
Happy Trails!!

I've had nothing but positive comments about the car. My kid (a senior in high school) said that most of her classmates love it, but there are a few who have made negative comments about it. Most have said they like the old body style better. She says its one of those love it or hate it cars. Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the last body style and love the retro looks of the new ones.

I have never laughed at another persons shortcomings in life....HOWEVER...Several times my kids have commented on how stupid or slow a worker at McDonalds is...and I come back with "see...that's why you're going to college!!"

Jay

Yes, because everyone who does not go to college is stupid right? Or is that just what you teach your kids?
Geez man, be a little defensive. Face facts. People who go to college, on average, are more educated, more intelligent, and have higher paying jobs that require less physical and more mental exercise. Why does there always have to be someone that takes offense to everything?
[/b][/quote]

???
How did you infere that not going to college means stupid? I meant to get a good job at a young age you need to go to college. You learn skills and information that generally takes years to learn on your own. Plus you are demonstrating to a future employer you have the ability to do things on your own and complete them.

I spent 10 years on submarines instead of college....With the skills I learned there (and it was considerable) I became a foreman and now own a machine shop.
If my kids didn't want to go to college I would be the first person handing them milityary service brochures.

And as far as bigotry...how do you even know what color I am?

That's all I wanted to say...

Jay...

Based on the massive sales increase over the previous model, the + news coverage, fantastic reviews, and comments I've heard from just about everyone I know, I'd say those who don't like the car are in a small minority.

Jay, you sending your kids to the military is basically like sending them to college. It's post-highschool education. When you finish your time in the military, you get out with knowledge and training to get a better job than working at a gas station. I don't understand why everyone is getting so defensive, but gas station cashiers as well as McDonalds cooks etc., as nice as many of them are, are just not nearly as educated as the average population. Now should that be a reason to not respect their negative comments about the new Mustang? No, not really. It really has nothing to do with education, but the person's knowledge of cars as well as just their personal preference. Fact is, it basically boils down to this... this is the best design of the Mustang since the late 60's and anyone who doesn't like them is either blind, high on some illegal subtance, mentally challenged, or they are the type that prefers Chevy's or imports and have already made up their minds that they don't like Mustangs. It's basically the equivalent of you asking a guy in the Aryan brotherhood what he thinks of Halle Berry. She's hotter than 90% of white women out there, but he's not going to think so. There are just some people out there who are racist against the Mustang, or just Fords in general. And it's those types of people who I don't care what they think. Racism is ignorance. And that ignorance has nothing to do with education.

i've have only 1 negative comment. Friend said he just didn't like the way it looks, I asked him why, but he couldn't really answer.
I have a 05 V6, and the only other comment that would be considered negative is, 'why didn't you get the 8?'

I get asked all the time, "is that the GT?". So, I know what you mean, foley. I have gotten one or two negative comments about having an auto though instead of the stick. But that's by guys who don't know any better. When I tell them that the auto is a 5-speed and is just as fast as the manual, and that you can manually shift it from 1-2-3-D, they understand.

No negative comments here. But, I do have 2 funny positive ones. I had the top down and these two older ladies pulled up next to me at a stop light. I would guess that the driver was in her 70s and the passenger was in her 60s. When the driver saw my car, she leaned over and started waving and gave me a . The other lady smiled too. I was not expecting older ladies to respond that way.

The other story is good too. A longtime friend on my Dad's is the parts manager at a local Chevy dealership. He wanted to see my car, so I took it by when he was working. He brought out about 15 guys from the dealership to check it out. I think some were mechanics and some were salesmen. They were asking a lot of questions. I got several good comments and no negative Ford comments. I would have gave a lot of $$ to had a pic of them looking at the Mustang outside of the Chevy dealership. I would have sent that to Ford. What a great commercial!

I just had to ask this question because up until a week ago i had recived nothing but great comments from people! Then all of a sudden I am getting gas and tell the cashier i am the red mustang(so i can pay for my gas) and she says "is that one of them new Mustangs" and i answer her saying "yes ma'am" and all she has to say is "They look so Strange!" i couldn't beleive her! i asked her what she said agian( just incase i misunderstood her) and she answered that time saying how weird they looked! Then yesterday i brought my grandma to the post office and as i sat there waiting for her to return a girl next to me looked over and ROLLED HER EYES! Maybe i am just taking the critizm to hard but i can't imagine anyone not liking this car...maybe they were just jealous, but someone needs to make them watch Bambi so they can learn if you can't say anything nice not say anything at all!

Anyone else had any bad comments from people?

P.S. I did a search on bad comments and recieved none concerning this but i accidentally placed this topic in the which is better catagory( Because that was where the results from my search came from) So if someone could lock that topic it would be greatly appriciated! Thanks
No negative comment, but a neighbor launched into a diatribe about how his Miata would beat the Mustang in a race with turns because of the fixed axle and how the Mustang would win in a straight race and that the Miata has IRS........thankfully we were at a party and it was loud. The conversation ended pretty quickly, with me saying we would never race anyway.

A Mustang would win that race simply because the Mustang would kill it in acceleration at any straightaways. Then it would just be the Miata trying to play catch up.

I agree completely with Ian. Also, it's funny how everyone wants to race the Mustang GT. I guess when you're the best, everyone wants a chance to bring you down, but it won't happen in a Miata, or too many cars for that matter.

Look at the GT in the Avatar, it's just so bold, so aggresive, it just looks ready to pounce!

I refused to discuss this with "my boy" because it just wasn't worthy.

I would defend the Mustang though no matter who it was, even my father-in-law. Luckily for me, he owns 3 Mustangs including a '65 and a '66, so that would not happen. But you have to defend the Mustang or you friend will walk away thinking he can beat you. No matter how close of a friend he is, do't give him the satisfcation.
