Anyone here have a 2008 Stang with OEM factory HID headlamps?
For those with the OEM/Ford HID headlamps on their 2008 Mustangs, could you check the headlamp wiring/harness/connector for your HIDs and compare them with the ones in the following photographs:
The photographs are of the stock 9008/H13 halogens and the OEM factory connectors on my 2007 GT. I am trying to investigate the electrical interface for the 2008 HIDs. I have heard rumors that the OEM HID connectors are the same as the halogen connectors. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!

crazyhorse: thanks for the pics!
It looks like the HID connectors are the same connectors used for the H13/9008 halogens, making it easier for a plug and play install. However, I'd have to test fit one of the connectors to an actual H13 bulb to confirm this.

Do the 08 factory HIDs require a ballast? If so, where is it located?
Also, how does the hi/low function work on these. I have seen a set and they have a deflector in front of them. Does the deflector move to restrict light like the Saleen bulbs do or are the bulbs actually hi/low beam?

Ford has always implemented the ballast/ignitor with the headlamp assembly. It's not like the cheezy Stangmods or eBay HID kits where you have to slap the ballast somewhere in the engine compartment. The 08 HIDs use a retractable shield for the high beam function. It appears that Ford uses +12VDC for this retractable shield, so assuming the connector fits and the HID assembly actually fits in the 05-07 GT, it's a 100% plug and play install.

It looks like I might be wrong:
If you look closely, the HID connector is female just like the Halogen connector, but the interface is mirrored to prevent direct plug-n-play retrofits.
I still cannot get access to a 2008 FSM to verify the wiring and voltages, but a new connector is most definitely required.
