Eagle F1 Supercar tires really that bad?

I have been reading around and a majority of people seem to say the F1 supercar tires are crap. The reason I am interested is because they are not too expensive (<$200) and there arnt too man tire types that are 285/40/18. What I care about most is wet traction (obviously dry traction as well), I dont want to have to take a different car just because it is raining. Nitto 555's are in this price range as well but their website says they are designed for dry conditions. Any thought or suggestions for 285/40/18?

I've got them on mine (SC'd 06) and they work well. Aired them down to about 23-25 psi at the track and pulled a 1.88 60ft with my 449rwhp automatic. Best ET was at 12.07... the tires help.

Roads are pretty quiet, no worries in the rain so far. I'm only a few minutes north so I understand your weather fears. Overall traction has been ok with me. Ride quality is no different than stock in terms of absorbing bumps et al.

Unfortunately, due to the recent snow, I haven't dug the car out yet.... It snowed while I was away and there's no way I can get it out without a few hours of digging.

They were stock on my GT500. They work very well for me. I don't drive in the rain or snow though. I use my old beater (but faithful) pickup for that.

What about the new BFGoodrich SuperSport A/S? I thought the KDWS that came on the car were pretty good, but aren't offered in wider profiles. Now they have the SuperSports and I may go that route.

Cold weather traction on the F1 supercar tires is terrible. While sometime noticable on other performance tires I have owned, it is a real problem with these. The compound gets very hard as the temperature get close to 40 degrees.

I have a set, but haven't put mine on the car yet. I run snow tires in the winter, so haven't tried them yet.
They are not an all season tire, as mentioned, cold weather, forget about traction.

It's an OE tire on some vettes also and they like them, except they ***** about the price because for the vettes they are a run flat tire and cost alot more.

For the price you cant go wrong. Before taxes, and after rebates I payed 500
for 2 285/40/18 and 2 255/45/18.
I got them at cost

That 195$ price on Tire Rack for the 285/40/18 is a screamin deal, the tires usually go for mid-200's.

It's threads like these that remind me how much of a blessing it is to be able to use summer tires year-round

Yeah, I was eyeing those F1 All Seasons. They look like a good all around tire, wet...dry...treadwear...total package.
