Think about this.
A few months ago John Coletti did an interview (may have been Autoweek). In it he said that 450 HP was about as high as Ford will go for regular production vehicles (Ford GT, Cobra R, etc. excluded). He said that there were a lot of things such as government scrutiny, insurance, gas prices, etc. that were going to put the damper on super high HP cars (except for high priced exotics). While he was referring more to the next SVT Lightning, Coletti clearly stated that SVT was putting a lot of effort into weight reduction and the new game at SVT was all about the power to weight ratio and not just raw HP.
In this light, a 5.4L, N/A engine with SVT's intake air cooling system that puts out 450 HP and weights 150 lb less than the 4.6L S/C 03 - 04 Cobra engine, sounds very plausible.

Having a N/A engine will shut up any naysayers that say the Cobra is unworthy because it needs forced induction to produce the same power as the "almighty" LS2. I'd say putting out a N/A 5.4 that has 50 more horses than the N/A 6.0 Vette will seriously smash any haters.

So maybe the next Lightning also goes 5.4 NA? 450hp? And way lighter and totally useless for truck activities? Could Ford be that stupid? ]
[/QUOTE]They may be able to make it work with the 3 valve variable timing.
