Actually, I should say that SVT has acknowledged the existence of the 07 Cobra, however they have not said anything else. Anything you hear is pure speculation.

If it wasn't for speculation, this forum would be dead. Continue thread

Welcome to the board rjacobra. According to the FAQ on this sight, the Cobra will be coming out in 2006 as a 2007MY model. Ford currently offers a lease package on 2004’s which gives you first dibs on the 2007 Cobra. Check this Ford Lease web page out. The rumor around our plant is, it will have a detuned 5.4 from the FORD GT and put out about 450hp. That is just a rumor and not conformed.

Be sure and check the 2005 FAQ out, it has a lot of good info on it. Don't hesitate to ask questions here, but what I think people are implying here is to search the sight first and then ask questions if you don't find the answer.

Again, welcome to the sight, it's the best one on the net.

(Gives Sharp a High5 for such a polite, through response )

I don't think we will see anything about the '06 Cobra until at least NAIAS in 2006 (over a year away).

Grantsdale is correct. Ford has hinted (but not confirmed) that there will be a 2007 SVT Mustang model that will be introduced in mid 2006 (as a 2007 model year car). But that's a long way off, anything can happen between now and then.

Ford has NOT said anything about what the new SVT will have for an engine. Many people have speculated that it will have a 5.4L S/C engine, but it's all speculation, nothing is confirmed.

A Ford engineering manager told me (at one of the Mustang events) that early on they wanted to do a 400 HP, N/A 4.6L engine, but they couldn't make the 400HP mark and meet emissions, longevity specs. etc. Read into that off the cuff statement what you want to, but I read it as saying that the target for the next SVT is OVER 400 HP, N/A is preferred and it will neet more than 4.6L to make that HP target.

V10 there was an SVT mailer that stated you could buy the current cobra under the powerlease and get the 07 when it comes out. Thats good enough proof for me. Other than that though, known true information sits at zero, as you said.

edit: MustangMan311, yeah its good huh? Thank brad for it

Yup, pretty much guaranteed that Chevy, Dodge, and Ford will all have factory cars under 90k in the 500hp club by 2006. :cop: :cop:

Nah, I'd say to beat the 'Vette it'd have to have the speculated 450hp. The C6 weighs in at just over 3100 lbs, and the current gen Cobra weighs in at closer to 3500 lbs. The Viper, on the other hand, isn't even in the same league as the Cobra, or even the basic Corvette, for that matter. 0-60 in 3.8, 60-0 in 97 ft., and 1+ g's on the skidpad.

Of course, base price of the Viper is $80,000+ now. The Cobra will most likely start out under $40,000.
