Hi all,

This is my first post. I've been waiting to order the redesigned Mustang GT since the rumors started many years ago

Does any one know what's involved in ordering a car from the USA ? I live in Toronto, Ontario so I'm pretty close to the border.

The reason being the Mustang looks WAYYYYYYY better without the spolier. At this point I'd be willing to get MPH speedo over a kPH. Just so I wouldn't have a spolier :bang:

Thanks for the advice,

Ben

PS - The other issue I have is which body style to buy. Vert or coupe

Ben,

Getting the car in the US will cost signicantly more in the end.. with duties, inspection fees, etc. it is not worth it.

I like you live near toronto and would love to have a spoiler delete.

Here are some options I am looking at (by the way, most people have heard these a million times )

1. Find a dealer in the buffalo/rochester area with a GT/V6 without a spoiler the same color as yours and see if they are willing to swap decklids.

2. Take it to a bodyshop, have the trunklid welded up and painted (about $200-$300 I guess)

3. Order a decklid without holes in it and have it painted the color you want (should cost about $300 total, plus you can unload your other trunk)

An thread with an explanation and poll is in the Canada section

welcome to the site.. there are a few of us from the GTA

Thanks for the advice, I wasn't sure what was involved hence the reason I asked

I had read those other threads, and yours with the poll. But no one mentioned ordering from the states, at least now I know why...

I can just imagine how much FORD will want for a new trunk lid without the holes for the spoiler. When my 97 GT was broken into, the plastic trim around the stereo (that also holds the vents) was over $150.00.

It is NOT too expensive. There is no duty, only PST and GST. I bought my 2000 GT from California and I know how it works for fees and inspections. If you can get a well equiped GT for $500 over invoice, with the current exchange rate you will save about $2000 Canadian. That is taking everything into account except for travel expenses.

Goto www.riv.ca for more info on importing cars to Canada.

Guys and Gals in Canada, please take Galaxies spoiler delete poll seriously. Ford Canada just might listen. By the way, for you folks in the GTA, Al Palladini Ford Weston and 7 has a black GT in the showroom!!!.
