Hey everybody! I've been lurking here a little while trying to get info on my future mustang. I think I am almost ready to place my order but I'm a little nervous about where to place the order. There are 3 Ford dealerships that I have dealt with in the past and I have had no bad experience with any of them. My question is: How do I know which dealership will get me the best price? Do you think most places will be selling it for sticker? Is sticker the same as MSRP? What I mean is, Is the sticker price of the same car at different dealerships the same or is sticker something that is dealer specific.

I've been in contact with one sales rep who told me that they will be selling them for "sticker" and not higher. Is this good? Do you think I can do better?

Thanks Everybody for your time!

If you want to order the car, sticker pice is the best right now, unless you can get it on the A/Z/ or X plan from Ford. Now if you wait for the cars to hit the lots, there might be a chance to get it a little cheeper.

EDIT:Check the SCOOP thread at the start of it!!!!

Hey Order#1, do you know if "sticker" is the same no matter what dealer you go to? Sorry for my ignorance!

Check the FAQ... there should be some info there on MSRP vs. sticker. And don't pay over sticker for the '05. Any dealer that tries to get you to do so is not the one you want to work with. Contact all 3 dealers and tell them you are interested in ordering the '05 and are shopping around to find a dealer, and ask them what they can give you- in writing. One dealer might say, I can give you sticker. One might say I can give you 5% over MSRP. And one might say a grand over MSRP. That's your best bet at this point. I personally am not worried about saving a couple hundred here or there. I found a dealer that I like, and had him guarantee me in writing that I would get one of his first two cars on the lot, and that I wouldn't pay a cent over sticker (doesn't mean I won't pay under). But at the price the Mustang is estimated to be going for, and what you get, I would be happy paying sticker.

Sticker should be the same amount at every dealer... might change by location. But I'm sure sticker price at one dealer is gonna be the same at other dealers in that same city.

I wouldn't settle for sticker until you eliminate the possibilities of discounts.

Many dealers will give you X-Plan pricing (or similar) for a AAA membership. If you are a AAA member, go to the website, and look for a link about auto buying. From their website, you can send an email to multiple local dealerships. The car you set up in the AAA website will be a 2004 Mustang, not a 2005.

When the dealer calls/emails back, tell them you want AAA discount on a 2005 Mustang, and want to order it now. Tell them you expect AAA discount to be at or near X-Plan pricing, i.e. not to exceed 2% over invoice.

My local dealer wanted nothing to do with me. The next closest dealer took my order.
